I picked up (almost a year ago) one of Daves short shift kits. Ive heard wonderful things about it, but Ive yet to install it.

Im worried about a money shift on the track. At Mosport, there is a long straight where I can either keep in in 4th and limit myself to whatever 4th limits at in a 6spd, or I can shift it into 5th and pick up another 15ish mph.

Im finding myself greedy and Ive been moving to 5th through the latter part of the season. The issue is that at the end of the straight, things happen quickly. There's a rise that makes the end blind, then a fast 70 degree'r that I have to be in 4th for, then a quick downshift into 3rd to get through the S turn.

My concern with putting the shift kit in is that Im more likely to do a money shift in this corner (T8 at Mosport), which while devastating in itself, would probably end up catastrophic as my car bites it into the wall at 100+mph.

Is a short shift kit more likely to result in a misshift from 5th to 2nd?

The titaniumdave kit shortens only fore-aft movement, so in theory you wouldn't be any more likely to commit a 5-2 downshift (or a 4-3 upshift, for that matter :D) than you would with a completely stock shifter.

I'll second the above... Titanium Dave (SOS) maintains the stock shifting, just shorter throws which you get use to very quicly.

After tracking my car,ROFL,I found that Dave's short shifter is as easy to use as the stock one, only difference is I save calories because I do not have to move it as far!
Just do it,if you have a problem switch it back. You will love it !
When I did drive my car in Phoenix it felt great as it will in Vancouver.

I recently added this and it was totally worth it-easy to install and so much more fun to drive- there's no way you will miss shifts!
