Hi guys,

So my car is a 99 6 speed turbo NSX. I really don’t know what shifter lever is installed in my car right now but I’ve been wanting to change it for a while. Shifts doesn’t feel smooth, reverse sometimes (probably every 10 times for example) grinds, and it is a huge pain shifting to 5th and from 5/4. They are waaaay to close from each other and every time i shift to 5th i’m scared not shifting to 3rd. It is literally that close that you don’t even know what the gear is 🤦🏻‍♂️. I’m thinking something is wrong or damaged there so I prefer to change everything.

So, i’ve been looking in this forum for an answer but every thread is a bit old so I prefer to ask again what are your recommendations out there? I was thinking to buy the Mita 93r short shifter with the nsx-r round know or zanardi countersunk.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Lots to unpack , are you asking what aftermarket shift knobs folks like? For that it doesn't really correlate with HP..

I have a Zanardi shifter with Mita's Ti counter sunk shift knob.. Firm throw, nice weight. Very happy with the setup.

I have a razo old school thin grip aluminum and it is pretty lightweight , I have no complaints with it, other than the boot does not attach to it like oem

My advice is to first figure out what you actually have installed. It could be that you have short shifter already installed and perhaps that's causing your issue. If that's the case, you may want to go back to stock. The Zanardi shifter is fairly popular. With that you can go with a countersunk knob if you choose or stock.

Thanks but, sorry for my ignorance though, how can I know what shifter car has installed?

If it has this, then it's aftermarket. If you do have it and simply remove it, possible you'll be perfectly happy with what you have.

I swapped in the type S/Zanardi mechanism and use the matching knob. Works wonderfully.
