I have a 91NSX. It has developed a "whine" to the engine when it idols. its constant but does change with the engine RPM's. Anyone know ever experience this?
when I saw the Title of this thread I was gonna rip into it.
Timing Chain. OMG or OMFG or WTF
granted some car have chains but not the NSX.
ouch that indeed would suck.check the rubber of the pulley damper (crankshaft)… danger!
Obviously this maybe an issue for someone that has greater knowledge of this car than you. Who do you have that works on your car? Is there a good independant you take it too? If not find one and take it to them. Don't sit there and worry over some new strange noise that will take you forever to track down - take it to a pro. They'll tell you and it won't hurt - till you fix it. If you don't like the noise - gonna have to fix it. Figuring out what it is and knowing what it's going to take to make it all better will tell you what you need to know. Hopefully you are prepared to take care of your car.
I found a lost solution for that noise you mentioned... its cheaper than going to an independent mechanic like Tim suggested, and really does not require any special tools or parts.
Ive found that if you just get some ear plugs, all those noises go away! For like 15 cents you can run your car until it breaks and never hear a thing!
