The Very Remote And Winding Hwy 25 Nsx Run - 3/29/08

PLEASE NOTE NEW TIME AND ROUTE FOR HIGHWAY 25 RUN
PLEASE NOTE NEW TIME AND ROUTE FOR HIGHWAY 25 RUN

I’ll bet not many of you have traveled this route before! They could have carved it out and then laid down asphalt with the NSX in mind. Back in those days, they were just looking for a way through. If you can find Hollister, you can find Highway 25. After heading south on Highway 25 we will be heading east on 198 to Coalinga and HARRIS RANCH FOR LUNCH. We have reserved space in the Farm House Room for our lunch. Harris Ranch will provide individual checks to everyone to make it easier on our minds!! Our return trip will head back on Coalinga Road towards Highway 25 and Hollister. Bring a passenger, this is not going to be a high speed run.

DATE: Saturday, March 29th (if bad weather, run will move to April 5th)

125 Bernal Road, Suite 20

Hope the weather stays nice and clear. Can't make it if it gets postponed to April. Looking forward to testing out my new SOS short shifter kit with modified short stalk cut down by 1.25 inches and RSX-R shift knob.

I've been on 198 it's a smooth and nice twisty road.

I'm looking forward to this drive too... and testing out my new stuff too.

i just got all 4 new tires (goodyear f1 gsd3)...time to break them in! :)

I just ordered a set too... how many miles have to be on new tires before you can "push" them? This info could determine whether I get the tires on before or after the drive!

James, it is not just miles but they need to have some heat in them too - seriously.

Not sure how many "good" miles the goodyears need, but the OEM Yokos needed a good 500 miles and they were still handful afterward at the track, and this after the CHP escort from Comptech at 120 mph ..... this was back in 2003 - since then I have not had the need to buy new street tires

I won't get my car back in time... :frown:

Gary, bring "the other" Acura!

BTW, I asked at our last NSXCA regional meet if it was cool if I invited non-NSX drivers to this event and was told it was, so I invited a good friend of mine who drives a 350Z. He's already been made aware of the "back of the pack" rule  and understands. I sent him the URL to this thread so he knows what to expect.

Gary it looks promising for me to make the run. If you like you can co-pilot with me. Or we can just have you jump from car to car through out the run. Kinda like being an instructor for the day...

or a bad seat driver... LOL...

Sounds like a good plan.... I have to see if I can make it out... I would drive my "other Acura" but it needs a few things fixed before I would feel comfortable doing a run like this...

Just recently completed a pre-run of sorts of the route. For anyone not familiar with this area, your in for a treat. On the 50 or so mile Coalinga/Los Gatos Road we only encountered 3 vehicles coming in the opposite direction, however, it was on a Monday afternoon. There was only a couple of small sections (perhaps a 100 feet or so) with some dust and bits of debris caused by the runoff from storms. Should be even better by the 29th. Will make driving adjustments accordingly. If you have a club UHF radio, please bring it that way you can be on top of what is going on front to back and get a heads up on any possible hazards lurking around the next bend. If you don't have one and want one, check out the link.

(we just bought a pair of these, great radios)

Not only that but you'll be all set for the next cruise.

We have a room set aside at Harris Ranch for us so lunch should be entertaining and a breeze. If anyone needs to break off and hit Hwy 5 this is the place to do it. The return drive back to Hollister took about 2 hours so most should be home not too late.

That's about it unless I come up with some other information. See all of you at the area starts.

Damn, I can't wait seeing nearly 20 NSX's rolling down the highway. Think that will turn some heads?

Looks like I'm going to have to bail on this :frown: The wife is out of town, and there's no one to look after the dogs. I may show up at the SJ meeting point, and drive to Hollister, but can't make a day of it.

Gary, if you decide to ride along and would like a place to park your (other) Acura, you're welcome to use my driveway. I'm only about a mile off the freeway, so it would be a short detour.

Hi Jack and Yolanda,

Just a quick question about the duration of the trip, are we expecting to be back in San Jose around 4:00? just want to make sure I will be able to make it back on time with another commitment at 5:00.

Thanks for setting it up,

-Nat
