I haven't researched in great details but I've been hearing that certain CAli counties dun have emission testing.

Unless you have a smog and a cop or chp hook up,keep the car in Vegas. at least just leave it registered there. I would not recommend trying to register the car in cali at all.
They will pull you over for anything in Cali. If you get a asshole cop then say good buy to the car. Unless you make it look more stock not so crazy looking then you will be pulled over all the time.
Just dun get caught with a CA drivers license with outta state plates.

YMMV but I don't think his car is that much of a cop magnet. I've driven it. It's a bit of a sleeper less the wide body and the exhaust. I've personally heard many local NSXs with much louder exhaust systems. Worse case, put a cat on there and retune it.
My vote says, not to worry about registering it. Get a smog, submit the papers and be done with it. Enjoy the car. Life's too short. You never drive it anyway!!!
Wait.. I have a proper solution. Lend me the car for a month or so. I'll drive it around town and i'll let you know how many times I get pulled over. :wink:

Well I found a work around. I still have properties in Vegas and will be coming back to Vegas quite a bit. So I'm still legally allowed to have my car in Vegas and registered there. But that means I tow or fly into Vegas and drive it back down if I ever want to drive around town.

Back when I still had my M3, I had a titanium exhaust which was pretty loud. I got pulled over once for it but they gave me a warning to pull it off or else I'd get a ticket next time. My front windows were tinted at the time & i had no front license plate. If you're respectful & calm, things seem to be alright. Yes, Irvine PD doesn't have much to do but just use your best judgement.
Vamp is wayyyy over thinking it. I blew by a cop with straight pipes doing 90. Granted I got a ticket for speeding, but not like too low or too loud or tint or anything. He was cool. If your cool, they won't harass you. Worst case is a fine for no cats, not getting your car impounded..... Vamp. Other wise ppls like me and Jc would never go turbo. Bring it down, for les's sake haha. The shorter he has to live with me being the fastest in SoCal, the better. And from what he tells me I'd have to seriously up my boost to keep with you

If I had your car getting it impounded is not something I'd really be concerned with. I think it has more to do with driving/acting like an idiot not necessarily your car mods. To be hassle free just put a cat on there but even that is not super necessary.

Like I posted if you get a asshole cop. I have been pulled over and the cops have been cool but I have friends with vetts vipers who have got impounded but then again they drive the cars hard the way they were intended.
