The Unofficial Thread of Exhaust Sound Clips

I installed my new exhaust on today. Will try to post soundclips this weekend.

Nice sound Nico. What version Gruppe M is this? Also, what other mods have you done to make your car sound like this ?

OK, here is my contribution with a GM v2 video.

The Porsche was driven by a pro driver going at around 150+MPH and I was going around 125MPH. You can see his downshifting point is a lot later than mine.

My car was a lot louder that day, with a 1" crack on the flex join of the DC header. But you can still hear the exhaust pretty well.

GruppeM Version 2 5MB in size.

Hey Chris, your car, when downshifting, sounds pretty similar to this F50 GT1 in this movie.

Yes the Ver 3 is louder than the Ver 2 and frees up a few more horsies...

Yes, noticably more. When I swapped out the v3 for my existing v2, I noticed that the car felt heavier. But I still prefer the quieter v2 comparing to a well broken in v3.

SilverOne's like new v3 actually sounds a lot quieter than my old v3.

Are the GruppeM's louder than Tubi? "Much" louder?

I think definitely lounder. As for "much", that's hard to describe as it'd be a personal judgement.

I'd describe the Tubi as very easy to live with. CDub had the Tubi before, and he is able to sneak onto my driveway without me hearing him at all.

With the GM, at below 1500 rpm, it's quiet. But I think anything above that is definitely noticeable, and certainly draws attention above 3k.

Would a supercharged car with the GruppeM ver 3 be obnoxiously loud?

I just bought a BBSC'd NSX that has a Comptech exhaust on it now. I bought a second hand Gruppe M like 6 months ago because I thought I was going to buy a stock NSX. The NSX is being picked up on Monday and wont be at my destination until next week. I am/was planning on changing out the Comptech exhaust and putting my GruppeM exhaust on. Until that happens though, will the supercharger make the GruppeM too loud? It also has the GruppeM special intake.

As far as I know I conscider noise level over 100db hard to live with.

The GruppeM's goes up to 110 maybe?

I'd definitely try on the GM after you drive the car for a few weeks with the Comptech on. Without the cats, installing and removing the GM is easy.

I don't think the SC will make the exhaust louder. You may tend to drive it harder with the SC, hence louder. If the Comptech is just right for you, then sell the GM. If you want more, then try on the GM.

If you want an easy to live with exhaust, stay with the Comptech. If you want a more agressive sound, I can't think of an exhaust that has the tonal quality of the GM. Good or bad, it is really up to you to decide.

Check the SoS exhaust comparison chart. I can tell you that I scared myself with the GM v3 when I drove 5' from the wall with windows down and helmet on. It is more of a piercing scream than a boomy sound though.

If you look at the chart from SoS, you'll see that it is less loud than say the Taitec GTLW and JGTC. To me, the GM is a perfect track and joyride exhaust. Daily driver may want to think twice.

Chris, thanks for confirming my suspicions, V3 is indeed louder than V2.

any soundclips yet?

*crosses fingers*

Sorry it took so long. Jason, Vance, Eric, John, and I finally had an opportunity to meet up and take some recordings of our cars. You will finally get to see some pics and hear my 360 modena exhaust set up. You will also hear sound clips of Vance's titanium F1 exhaust, and John's RM. Excuse my mediocre drive-bys, I will post better sound clips once I receive and install headers.

pics and soundclips can be found on this link:http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72004

Video clips for 3 more exhausts:

Williams's 360 Modena exhaust (it does have that shrieking sound, sounds good from VTEC and above, does not sound like NSX at all), need to take a clip from behind the car doing standing still 0~60mph acceleration and 1 tunnel run.

GTrom Titanium exhuast version 2 (very clean and refined exhaust note, surprisingly quiet down low, different animal at higher rpms, very high pitched):

0~60mph

Testing 60 to 0mph braking, yes the brakes are good

In car, smooth 1~2 shift

RM exhaust (The clip very much speak for itself):
