The Pursuit of Personalizing Perfection - Track Addict's build thread

Lol .....3 dollars later..

Indeed but look out world, India is on the rise..

Another Alibaba find!

At the behest of my mother in-law, I bought a car cover to “hide” the NSX and deter potential thieves. Even though car theft IS rare here, it has been on the rise especially will the older legendary cars like NSX, GTR, FD3S, Supra fetching the prices they are.

With the BAW I was measuring and getting ready to drop near $600 for a custom car cover before departing the USA. As luck would have it, I wasn’t able to buy one prior to shipping the car.

A quick talk with Yamamoto San at RFY revealed that his solution to his similar issue with both the NSX and S2K was alibaba!

Covered everything WITH EASE.

The only thing I did before installing it was cut off the plastic hooks that would secure the sides of the cover, because I didn’t want them to scratch my car when unfolding the cover on my car.

I left the front and rear hooks to secure the cover to the car.

The material is a very nice Jersey style that has lots of stretch and on the surface seems very soft.

Very pleased for the ~$100 spent

Suzuka…what a place.

Having been there now a few times previously for events was so much fun…

But actually getting to DRIVE Suzuka, that…was special…honestly a core memory I’ll probably hold onto forever.

A childhood dream realized, years of yearning, countless daydreams

It happened. I drove MY NSX around Suzuka at full bore.

Currently wading through swaths of video for the YouTube channel but I’ll post pics here;

I really like these early Elises

I always appreciate anyone that likes my NSX…in Japan it seems to fit so many people’s taste versus in the US I usually get quite a bit of criticism and hate for not being “flashy” or wild enough.

There she is…only 1 number off her birth year! Doesn’t look too bad here does it?

IMG_4442.jpeg

The only time I was ahead of Yamamoto San from RFY. That guy is QUICK around Suzuka (his 2:26.xx times versus my best time of 2:37.xx)

IMG_4426.jpeg

Another LHD NSX showed up! I was super surprised…especially considering it had “Acura” badging.

Clutch failure ended my battle with RFY early and required a friendly favor and lift back to his shop.

Can’t say “thank you” enough to Yamamoto San for the invite and the lift after nearly being stranded on track.

Pretty satisfied with my best time of 2:37.xxx for a first ever (non-virtual reality) outing.

I’ll be sub 2:30’s soon enough!!

Please check my YouTube for video of the event and all the fun that was had

How cool and it's awesome you got to make your dream come true! My NSX on Suzuka is in my bucket list too!

Was it a factory clutch?

HaHa I feel you, nsxpo VIR same thing happened to me...

Great memories driving Suzukaaaaaaa..

Thanks I think it was super awesome too. Definitely not an easy one to tick off the list, but totally worth it.

Yeah, I threw in an old factory clutch in that I had taken off a customer car several years ago just to get the car finished in time to make the boat to Japan.

Otherwise I would have my Tilton in and fat chance my car ever breaks one of those.

Heeeeeck yeah man! Stay posted for the video!

Welp. Finally managed to fix the NSX. Its nice to have enough experience with this car to know what the problem is/was

Yamamoto San was nice enough to allow me to use his shop to swap out my clutch (which he also ordered for me)

Aaaaand driving her home (it was 2am when I left RFY)

Can’t wait for the next event! Might be as early as January 2025 (Tsukuba)

So…I might actually have to admit I have a problem.

IMG_4931.jpeg

I can actually SEE my rock chips through the car cover.

Might finally be time to paint the old girl. Thoughts?

These bumper covers are way too far gone to recover so I’ll need to buy new ones and have those painted.

Feels like the entire car really needs paintwork…ugh.

$10k

there is a certain freedom in the patina of use. I repainted my entire front as I got tired of seeing all the defects, but my car has aged out of serious track use and I'm more likely to be at a cars and coffee ....

Yeah that’s about what I’m expecting to spend on paint. Will likely be more since I’ll probably need more body work. Have my spare panels painted and a few other odds and ends. Only wanna do this once.

Yeah I really enjoy my “battle scars” especially the front bumper. It would be really nice to have like PERFECT paint…but then I’d feel much worse after and off on track.

Until I can find a better track car (or at least finish this build and start another) I don’t have plans to stop enjoying the NSX at 8000rpm

First upload of 2025 and it’s one I’ve been meaning to post for ages.
