The Official 2011 F1 Thread....Now That 2010 is Over

Finally press conference(after race) without Red Bull driver.
Fernando did a good job excelent start and first lap.Hope that Felippe will be better at home race(and make some possibilities for Alonsos second place). It was interesting to watch passing in double DRS zone.

Re: This just in.............

The FIA is looking into allegations of a conspiracy surrounding the very slow time of 5.2 seconds for Alonzo's final pit stop that cost him the race lead and potential race win. The focus of the investigation is a suspicious Email to the Ferrari chief engineer from someone referred to as "J.S." concerning a substantial amont of something. The pit lane is at a loss to understand why the Ferrari pit crew took as long as the backmarker Virgin team to service Alonzo with the race and the season's pride on the line. The Orange County vice division is reportedly involved.

Son of a gun, and they were told NOT to open the Chianti until after the checkered flag!

No comment on advice of your attorney?:biggrin:

Oh well, never mind. I'll admit, I'm reduced to sticking pins in a JB doll.

What was our bet again?

What do you think I was doing this past race with a SV doll?:wink:

LOLOL...I bet JB would finish second and you placed your money on Fernando. Dinner and drinks are the stakes. That damn doll you have somehow reared its ugly face and messed with my man in AD. Hopefully Brazil will see Fernando crash on the first lap, thus ensuring my free steak dinner!

Re: Jack, Jack, Jack.............

check your facts.

Dinner and drinks are the stakes.

It's a $20 bet. I don't think I'll be coming down there to take you to Sizzler for steak and drinks.:biggrin::biggrin:

But if you're up this way, I will take you out for steak and drinks at Bandera's, one of my favorite restaurants.

But no matter how it ends, I'm hoping for some late race hair pulling drama. JB could win the race, beating Fred and Seb and be Bernie's 2011 poster boy. Or.........his season could end like Tavo's F-1 Austin dreams; in a pile of twisted smoking junk.

Re: Something's not right

I can't see him willing to work with a mid-pack team. Unless something's changed like maturity................ROFLMAO. :biggrin::biggrin:

Maybe he's flopped in that off-road stuff? I have no idea.

Or more likely, it's just money? Maybe they havent' paid as much as expected and he's now one of those millionaires that got hurt worse by the recession than the average guy? Heard that analysis on NPR the other day.

In praise of Vettel:

One writer in current issue of F1 Racing magazine wrote that Vettel's car changed from slightly understeering to slightly oversteering in the course of a few laps during qualifying.

Now that's sensitive driving in the extreme.

The L.A. Auto Show has the RB7 F1 car on display right now in the L.A. Convention Center. It doesn't look all that special, but boy does it go fast!

Some weight comparisons:

Ducati 1199 Panigale motorcycle : 188kg

Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle : 206kg

BAC Mono single seater open cockpit road car: 540kg

2011 RB7 formula 1 car, including driver : 640kg

2011 Lotus Elise two seater road car : 912kg

Joe thinks once Mercedes buys the rest of the Brawn outfit then McLaren will be free to terminate early, and that purchase is days away from being finalized.

Go to Saward's website for lots of encouraging comments.

How ,thay have contract with Merc until 2015.
Not true.

http://www.planetf1.com/news/3213/7320309/-McLaren-To-Swap-Mercedes-For-Honda-

McLaren are reportedly considering joining forces with Honda when F1 begins its new era of V6 turbo engines in 2014.

At present McLaren are powered by Mercedes for free, however, that deal is set to expire at the end of 2012.

The contract, though, does state that Mercedes can continue supply the Woking team until at least 2015 but they will have to pay around eight million Euros (6.8 million pounds) for the engines.

And with Mercedes now having their own works F1 team in Mercedes GP, McLaren are reportedly already looking around for a new engine partner.

One name that has been raised is Honda with Auto Moto und Sport claiming that sources at Woking have put the Japanese carmaker's name down as a possible candidate.

The German publication added that a senior Honda manager in Suzuki also stated that the company is ready to make a return to Formula One, although management have yet to give the go-ahead.

The duo have collaborated in the past, enjoying a period of success between 1988 and 192, which saw McLaren win four Drivers' titles with Honda power.

Honda's most recent foray into Formula One ended in 2008 when they sold their F1 team to Brawn GP, which subsequently became Mercedes GP.
Paying for engines @ McLaren's level? I think not. Honda would be wise to reignite the partnership especially with the 2013 engine regulations.

If bore and stroke are equal, a 1.6L six cylinder engine will have cylinder radius of 2.28 cm or 0.787 inches. They want to get 1000 bhp out of six of those things? That is impressive.

A four valve per cylinder design will have 2cm diameter for each valve.

Mc Laren still has contract whit Mercedes untill 2015. if this roumors came to be truth than after Ferrari my sympaties will goes to McLaren.
I'm not fan of Mercedes rather BMW( like E90 my daily driver).
