Rosberg continues to be a hack driver - spoiled brat - like Lea said " he missed the apex by 3 zip codes, then turned the wheel to full lock."

Only 5 second penalty forcing another driver off the track & Kimi got a drive thru last week for a safety transmission to his pits.

At least now full radio communication is back !!!!


YES! It's great that the radio communication is back -- I'm guessing if Rosberg continues to try this tactic the penalties will rise.

So, Honda have brought a 7 token update to Spa! It's anticipated it will yield better than 0.5sec a lap improvement, we will soon know. But the biggest improvement should come from the better combustion efficiency, which means there will be less fuel saving and more racing for Alonso and Button during the race proper. The other mid-level teams are also bringing improvements so it will be interesting to see how it all pans out on track.
 
one report I read was they may not leave that new engine in after Friday practice as it may need remapping after practice to optimise it for the next race, so it should improve over time not just for Spa
 
Looks like Hamilton will start last... taking all the mechanical penalties from the season up to now.
 
Good to see Alonso hold off the two Williams at the end. Guess he wasn't a "sitting duck" after all. Allowing Bottas past Massa handed Kimi an extra point!
 
Yep a BIG step forward from where they were, keeping the Williams' at bay. But he couldn't match the Force India's with their better chassis. So still a long way to go, but progress is being made.

I wonder how long it is before Verstappen causes a big accident? The kid's a gun, but he needs to mature real quick if he isn't to cause a big one.

His antics on the first lap after he had lost his wing [the accident itself was just a racing incident IMHO] were over the top. Surely he knows you have to slow down when you've lost all your front downforce :)

And then the shenanigans with Raikkonen were, I thought, unacceptable. Basically brake testing your opponent at that speed is - stupid. Why the Stewards haven't stepped in is beyond me. Someone in authority [as opposed to the heat he's been getting in the Driver briefings] needs to explain it to him, because if there is a big accident and someone gets hurt he and the FIA are going to look stupid.

Alonso and Hamilton were wonderful (poor Button). Max is riding for a fall -- I hope he doesn't take anyone with him when he goes!

Not sure how much these data are influenced by overtaking another car and measured at the right place. But the normally pretty fast Williams couldn't catch up. Maybe pretty much understatement of Honda.

Verstappen: I now will say something pretty unethical and politically not correct but IMHO F1 became a baby scooter sports. F1 would be much more serious if it was challenging enough. It should be that dangerous that one half of the babyfaces were 3 seconds behind the pros and the other half of the teens would mentally break down and start to cry after a hot lap and go back to karting or their baby bottle again. On top of that: less than two deaths per year would be disappointing for the spectators. It's 0 or 1, I want to see blood. :D
 
No, no no! If you lived through the Sixties and Seventies I don't think you would even jest in that manner.

Younger drivers are coming into F1 and are right on the pace from the first lap because of Simulators and their ability to recreate the driving requirements to be fast. Obviously you still need talent, and big balls, to actually do the times in reality, but it's much easier today without the need to learn the tracks in "real time". But that means the drivers are making fewer mistakes when they first learn, and today's cars are so safe [witness Magnussen's huge shunt] that the consequences of getting it wrong has lost a lot of it's terror! So it's up to the regulators to step in and remind the players that you have to play fair, or things can get very nasty very quickly.
 
Max, is a waiting to cause a BIG accident....and I think it going to happen soon in a high speed like Monza or soon there after.

Switching driving line on the highest speed straight @ 300 + Kph is not something anyone wants to do, unless they have a death wish.

Ok, the Sixties and Seventies might have been a little bit wild. :wink: But today driving a F1 car needs no exceptional effort. Back in the Eighties and part of the Ninethies the drivers looked exhausted after a race, today they look like ballerinas (Lauda). Safety is help up so high that they run much too much laps with fullwet tires in a 'heavy' rain race behind the safety car that as soon as the race is free several drivers switch to intermediates. So what are the fullwet tires for then??? Nowadays the cars and the track are so safe that a start crash like Spa 1998 wouldn't be a problem.

Verstappen: the stewards won't penalty him at his homerun in front of all his fans, haha! A warning during the race would have been sufficient. If he doesn't accept a lesson he'll learn the hard way next time. It's up to him.

I for myself have been watching every race since 1980 but nowadays I don't waste my time on a sunny sunday anymore and drive my own 'laps'.
 
I've been following F1 since the sixties, Jim Clark was my first hero. Live telecasts started in Australia about 1980 and I don't think I've missed more than a half dozen races since! But I'm lucky downunder as most races happen at night for me, so I have all day for other pursuits. ��
 
Ahem...(clearing throat) I have been watching F1 since the 50's -- Fangio was my first driver/hero. Then there was Ricardo Rodriguez -- he was born five months before me and was racing REAL racecars when he was 15 (a Porsche RS at Riverside). He was the youngest driver ever on the podium at Le Mans (1959) and went on to race a F1 Ferrari at Monza in '61 -- the youngest driver in history to start on the front row. He died at the wheel of a Lotus in 1962.
I don't want Max to end that way.

teams are all getting closer on track...monza should be interesting.
 
Hamilton made the best of a bad start. Ferrari got a podium for the Tofossi. Yawn. Hope to see more racing at Singapore.
