I was all ready to order, but I want the new Roady 2 with built-in FM modulator. Is there a special deal on it?

XM

I don't know of a special deal on the Roady with the built in modulator. The XM Roady radio sounds better in my cars when I use the cassette tape adapter. I bet the deal on The Roady is because they are replacing them with the built in modulator one.
You can also get a special schielded(sp?) XM Roadie if you have a GPS system in your car.

I just got the Roady 2, and let me tell you how wonderful XM is. This is the best thing I have done with a couple hundred bucks in QUITE some time.

That being said, I wouldn't chose the Roady2 over the Road based on the FM modulator. Things sound OK, but that is about it. Use the cassette deck and things sound MUCH nicer. I certainly don't want to screw with the tape deck forever, so I ordered the blitz adapter.

Good luck!

Update, my install will consist of the blitzsafe unit and this Panavise bracket.
The Panavise # for the NSX is 75119-498

The XM manual is very clear in indicating the sound quality. Best sound quality will come from using a cable to auxiliary inputs in your sound system (which, I believe, we don't have on the stock NSX unit). Next best quality will come from using the cassette adapter. And next best quality will come from using the FM modulator. So the cassette adapter should give better sound quality than the FM modulator. Good thing we have cassette decks in our cars, huh? :D

What's a "blitz adapter"?

Incidentally, I took advantage of this deal - hey, don't forget to also order the free home kit - and recently used it on a drive to Pennsylvania and back. I thought the sound quality was fine; the lack of commercials was very nice; the quality and variety of channels for my preferred music genre (classic rock) was limited and disappointing; the comedy channel was good when I could hear it (sound quality on the original recordings varies, and makes some of them tough to hear, particularly in a noisy car like the one in my avatar); the channel with weather and traffic reports back home was so-so (weather was okay, but the traffic guy mispronounced the names of some roads and landmarks, obviously not a native). Overall, it's nice to have... particularly since I can move this unit from one car to another (myriad of cables and all)... but I don't know that I would call the difference from broadcast offerings "night and day" (keeping in mind that I'm in reception range of big city offerings pretty much along my entire route). In any case, though, the price was really right and I appreciate the deal - thanks, wswen!

Are there any other differences between the Roady and the Roady 2 to make the 2 worth getting?

XM

NSXTASY Have you tried Channel 40 "Deep Tracks"? My favorite! All the classic albums but usually not the hits.. Try channel 49 "Fine Tuning" this one is from one end of the spectrum to the other. The guy in Florida that repaired my Bose speakers said someone is coming out with an adapter that would go in line with the CD changer some how. That would be great 100% digital.
Thanks

Yes. That is the one channel I expected to like the most, but I really don't care for it much at all. I expected it to have, well, "deep tracks" - meaning, album cuts by the big classic rock artists that weren't big hits, but are great songs. I was very disappointed. Many of the tracks aren't by big classic rock artists (or small classic rock artists) and IMO aren't classic rock at all; others are just not very good. I was expecting more.

We have a local station in Chicago, "The Drive" (streaming at WDRV.COM) that really does play "deep tracks" and I was expecting something similar. Oh well... At least Channel 46 sometimes plays deep tracks, not just the big classic rock hits.

A

would tell you the answer to that. ;)
The short answer is that it allows you to use your CD changer input to send digital signals the headunit. There are some tradeoffs apparently, but I can deal with them (smartenna no longer works, must switch from honda OEM to alpine changer if you want to retain the ability to use it (HON/ALP V.1D adapter) or just not use it (HON/AUXV.1 adapter). It is the best quality signal you can send to your (stock) HU.

Not that I can tell- save your money IMO.

Links for the lazy on where I ordered my stuff from:
$99 Blitz adapter here (for use with an Alpine changer) - or - this $69 one if you don't mind losing your changer.
I got my Panavise bracket here (for $27)
I also got an extra antenna from Amazon ($29) and a remote too ($19).

Incidentally, about that cassette adapter - I have not yet used it in the NSX, but in each of the other two cars I've used it in, it immediately ejected the adapter about the first dozen times I inserted it. After that, it accepted it and it worked fine every time.

Ken,
That is a nice list of songs there. Rock on !!
I just chose them because that's what they had been playing at the time that I was posting. Almost any hour of the day or night, they play similar music - interesting music, not just the same old "Stairway to Heaven" and "Satisfaction". You can go to their website and check the log of songs they played for the previous 24-48 hours any time you want. And you can even listen over the web...

where to get free home kit ?

It looks like that bypasses the volume controls, does it?

While I admit that I don't know for certain, I can't imagine why ANY input would bypass the volume controls (for obvious reasons)...

Functionally, it shouldn't and I am not saying it doesn't. Just curious how the circuit works and trying to clarify!

It looks like the harness splices in between the HU and the amps. Depending on whether the volume is adjusted in the line level (HU) or the amps then it would either not have or have volume control accordingly (or so it seems logically).

Just here for the knowledge!
