Stainless Break Lines

Stainless lines, new rotors, Porterfeild pads and better brake fluid was the difference between night and day on my NSX. I did all four corners.

I have yet to see an NSX in which the brake pedal is spongy due to flex in the stock rubber brake lines, which is the claimed reason for installing them.

Smoothaccel, I did everything stevey did without the SS lines and I think got the same amount of increased braking he feels. My car is a '97 so the existing lines are fairly new and saw no reason to change them.

The best reason I can think of for SS brake lines is how they look, way cool and they may be a little better in extreme conditions.

Last winter I had my calipers off to paint them, when I reinstalled them I also replaced the brake lines. I used standard black rubber covered brake lines. Remember that the stock lines are steel braided also they just are not SS so they need to be covered to protect them from corrosion.

I felt no difference from the ss lines on my car. Pads and rotors yes, but not the lines.

Thank you all for helping me make my mind up. My first day on the track was 10/22/03 at Second Creek near DIA. I am extremely excited to go back. I had a great time and I found out that I was not as good as I thought I was so I learned alot about the NSX that day. My brakes is the original on my 92 so after that day they were squeeling. I wanted to go all out when I replaced my brakes (including the lines). Ken you are right, I can't think of any spongy feeling I have ever had with the NSX.... Let me take that back! After quite a few laps, I parked my car without first properly cooling the rotors. When I attempted to drive it again, the pedal felt spongy. I then learned about boil.. something. Anyways, I really do not need to spend money on SS lines. I will just do the HAWK pads-all four corners.
Thank you all again
Vance
