Southern California Burning

Randy, I don't know where you are getting all your info and pictures from, but your are now one of my resources for what is going on out there.

I glad your staying safe. Keep up the good work.

Randy ~ Thanks for all the updates. Be safe!!

In order for this to work the cars must "unfortunately" be left outside so they can get rained on!!! :(

Hi Bruce, yeah, we live very close to each other!

Fortunately, our area is no longer under threat and from what I've heard, the Otay fire is 100% contained.

Unfortunately, a brave firefighter has fallen and 2 or 3 others were severely burned. :(

This is just sad. :(

Yes, I heard about the fire-fighter who passed away -- and to think that he is not even from here.

Hi noon Rancho Bernardo, Ca.
If you looked close at the sun you could see two huge sunspots from the mass coronal ejections that have caused the aurora borealis lately. Tried to get a picture of them but it didn't come out.

I would like everyone to pray for my brother, engineer/firefighter that gave the ultimate sacrafice. Please send your prayers to his family and the other men and women that are putting their lives on the line to save LIVES AND PROPERTY. I would like to share the fireman's prayer with you:

When I'm called to duty god
wherever flames may rage
give me strength to save a life
whatever be its age

Help me to embrace a little child
before it is too late
or save an older person from
the horror of that fate

Enable me to be alert
to hear the weakest shout
and quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out

I want to fill my calling and
to give the best in me
to guard my neighbour and
protect his property

And if according to your will
I have to lose my life
bless with your protecting hand
my children and my wife

Prayers for the fallen ones

...Some of these ashes are probably someone's life savings.

Hi Chris,

This brings back horrible memories from 9/11. As long as the ashes you see and breathe are property and land ashes only, people will come together and mother nature will eventually take care of its own. The ashes I breathed consisted of that plus almost 3,000 innocent lives that were lost that day. This is just terrible.

Hi Conrad,

I'm so glad to hear your area is safe from evacuation. So many were not as fortunate. Hang in there friend...

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you affected by this tragic event, and all of the firefighter brothers and rescue workers involved.

I'm so saddened by this...

I'm trying to find out where exactly this picture came from, but I'm told it is of San Diego. A friend of mine sent it to me. I'm researching to see when it was taken, and if it was from the San Diego fires, what part of town.

It is both frightening and spectacular.

Randy, you are right, "It is both frightening and spectacular".

If this is in San Diego area, I would think that the city lights would have to be El Cajon. I don't think that the fire was that close to a city at night except El Cajon. If it is El Cajon the picture would have to have been taken Sunday night.

I live close to where this picture would have been taken from. I don't think the pictuce is from Mount Helix, it looks more like Mount Merit in El Cajon. I will have to make a day visit to see the mountain terrain and a night visit for the city lights. Hopefully I can find the same angle.

I will let you know.

Randy

I found this picture that was taken in the parking lot of my church, Shadow Mtn. on Sunday night at 8:40. In your picture my church location would be in the center, bottom fire, Crest would be on the right.

I am not sure that your picture is El Cajon, but it looks like it.
