OMG, this has got to be a record setting brush fire.
Cinder ash everywhere. Sky is set at sunset all day. I hope this is over soon.
I am having a hard time breathing; and I am sure you guys closer to the fire are are having it a lot worse.
Major disaster area for sure.

One of our business jets went to Orange County and sat overnight, when it got back today there was ash all over it, hope everyone stays safe there!

I live about 10 miles from the nearest fire and its moving at a rapid pace!! Heres how it looks in my back yard!!!

The fire has burned over 100 houses in my community (Scripps Ranch) already, and continues south at a rapid rate.

They have already evacuated my mother-in-law's neighborhood which is just a few minutes away from me.

My wife has taken the kids out of the situation to her sister's house in the North County.

I'm keeping a constant eye on the it on t.v. and keeping my fingers crossed.

My heart goes out to everyone who has been touched by this fire. It is absolutely horrible.

:(

Randy, stay safe!

It's getting crazy out here...

--4 major fires here in San Diego county.

--11 reported dead as of this post.

--Over 500 homes gone...

--Over 100,000 acres burned...

--There has been a State of Emergency declared for the entire San Diego County (as well as LA from what I understand.)

--CHP has closed parts of I-805, SR-52, I-8, SR-163, and Old Hwy 80.

--I saw earlier on traffic cameras people turning around on the freeways and going the wrong direction to get out.

--A plane also crash lands on 163 freeway. The pilot couldn't land due to poor visibility from the smoke and the strong winds. He is OK and did not crash on any cars. Thank goodness.

--San Diego Fire Department has recalled all personnel to report for duty regardless of your status. (Disability, vacation, medical leave, etc. etc.)

--Several airlines have cancelled flights to and from San Diego.

--etc. etc.

This is scary. Everyone please stay safe... it's not too far away... but it's not too close... so we are just watching the news and just waiting...

For everyone in Scripps Ranch area, the Hilton in Torrey Pines are offering a free night... and $50 a night after for residents of the Scripps Ranch area.

hope everyone who lives inland stays safe! I woke up this morning and thought Armaggedon was here..... this is crazy.
I'm staying inside until this passes.

All day long in the canyons it's been incredble ash fall and the constant sound of fire truck sirens. Santa Ana winds would make the fire fighters job harder, pray for their safety.

I feel trapped: I seem to be unable to escape the embers and breathing in that foul stinging air. Closed all my windows and turned on the Ionic Air Purifier and Fans.

Can not drive South, East, West, or North to escape the smoke filled air. I am only 5 miles from the coastline too.

It is absolutely terrible! You make sure to take care of yourself and your family, man.

Here's a pic from the local area paper.

I'm just to the left of that line of four fires, right about where the "r" is in "Del Mar".

There should actually be another fire icon where it says "Santee" since the fire has jumped across the I-15 into Miramar and Kearny Mesa.

Folks, our thoughts are with you. We are keeping a vigilant eye on the developments from here up north.

For whatever it is worth, I heard several times from Mark Johnson today giving status updates. He informed me that as of 4 pm today, his shop in Poway appeared to have been spared. Bryan Zublin and his family had to be evacuated at 7:00 am ..... and the latest news according to Mark who heard from Bryan, the neighbor informs that again as of 4 pm his house also appears to have been spared. All vai cell phones since the phone lines are down of course. But then the winds picked up again .......... and I have not heard back.

Hope you guys near fire lines have taken the necessary precautions to be safe. Belongings can be replaced but please do not take risks. You can't beat the odds against mother nature; let the fire fighters handle the sistuation.

I hope things work out for MJ and BZ. The fire out there in Poway seems to not want to settle itself.

Here's a satellite pic of the fires in Ventura County, Los Angeles County, Riverside County, and San Diego County.

Yeah... the situation is pretty crazy right now. I left LA on Friday and the whole city was getting ashed from the fire out in San Bernardino. On our way up North and back today we saw the Simi Valley/Ventura fire raging away. And I just heard that our house in San Carlos/San Diego was ordered evacuated this weekend. Out of control... :(

Wow, I just got back from a hectic day in Ramona. Even though the air bombers aren't flying at night, the wind has really died down, along with the temperature. We'll have to see what it is like tomorrow.

Randy and all that are near the fire, stay safe.

And I thought I had it bad when there were ashes all over the place. Some of these ashes are probably someone's life savings.

I feel sad for the ones that lost their homes. I'm furious at those punk kid arsonists so casually cause such massive destruction.

The worst of the San Diego fires, the Cedar fire, has burned so far over 160 confirmed homes, 150 of them in my community. At least 11 people are confirmed dead as a result of the fire. It's origin is totally sad. :(

"The largest blaze, the 115,000-acre Cedar fire that began Saturday night, may have been caused when a lost hunter trying to attract attention started a fire near Ramona, officials said.

This is totally nuts...and I hope all of you remain clear of the fire danger.

I talked a bit with Phil (Silly NSX) and Sylvia at Dromo 1...I think they said the Grand Prix fire passed within a quarter mile of their home in Rancho Cucamonga on Friday night. I hope they and their home are still okay.

When I spoke with Dexter (loomup) at Dromo 1, he said guys from his station were already out there fighting the fire. I'm wondering if he's been called to join the battle.

I'm closely watching the one that's leaping south over the 118 near the 23 as I know a lot of people who live in Moorpark, Granada Hills, and Thousand Oaks...and if this fire blows into the Santa Monica mountains, I know many more that will be threatened.

Randy, I totally didn't think you'd be so close to these...damn. Valerie and I have friends who live close to Qualcomm...they're not being threatened are they?

My mom is supposed to fly to LAX from Kansas City today, but with yesterday's evacuation of the FAA control center in San Diego, Southern Cal air traffic has been totally disrupted. Her flight is already delayed and she may be diverted to other locations...and to think she specifically chose her flight because it was direct.

The ash in the air has given me a pesky cough...hope my asthma doesn't kick in.

Hope anyone who intentionally started these blazes burns in hell!

Oh man! And they're saying some of these fires are like 0% contained! The madness!

fire!

Guys,

Just got back from vegas. I was stuck for a while, but with Randy's help and good luck I made it thru the cajon pass.

I saw many fires as I was driving back. I passed the cajon pass at around 11 p.m. and it still looked bad. :( On 215, as I was driving you could see ambers that were size of basketball.

Sorry to say, but few of my friends and clients already lost their homes.

Fire is near my home, but thankfully moving away from my area.

Its really bad here. I am in my office for a while, but the drive to my office was really bad.

Its worst then what you see on TV.

Please keep prayers for many of the people who are not sure if their homes are intact, who lost their home and folks who lost their loved ones.

Hope the wind dies down.

Two people caused this?

From the satellite picture above it seems that there are patches of fire all along the coast. Is this because of the Santa Ana winds? I don't understand how it got this big.
