SMOG CHECK Only - Where is a good one in Bay Area

Help,

I went to two SMOG only places last week in Fremont and both of them had incompetent technicians and they could not SMOG my car.

They could not figure out how to hook up their equipment to my 95 Midnight Pearl.

Got any suggetions?

Always passed and the technician Emran is always nice and upfront and even careful w/your vehicle. He even matches competitors coupons so u don't lose more than you have to besides time. (if distance is a problem, think this way: you wanna drive that NSX right?)

Initially I took my car to Smog World & Lube in Castro Valley but the tech could not seem to smog it. They didn't charge me at all though and they were nice as well and have one of the best prices in the Bay Area w/coupon. Something w/the OBDII he said didn't read correctly. In either case, good luck!

This is a good thread and thanks for the info – one day when I need to SMOG my baby, I’ll bring it to one of these trusted places.

Do they put your car on the dynometer to run the tests? My car is pretty low and not too crazy to let anyone drive it let alone put their greasy paws inside the car.

You may need to turn off TCS to when its on the dyno.Atlest I did with mine.It kept kicking on an messing up the test.

I just got mine smogged at Just Smog Test Only based on Mohammed's (Ashik) recommendation last week. Passed with plenty of margin. Mine was not designated as a test only station, but V. said he can smog non-test only station cars in a test only station. If your NSX is extremely low, use the left side of the driveway into the parking lot. V. is friendly and easy to talk. Perfect drive to Hayward. NSX was nice and warm, and ready to be smogged after my 35 minute drive.

My friend's 924 just failed and then I asked him what station he went to. he said some no name place. they charged him $110 and and then $40 for the retest! I told him he should have gone to V's. Would have saved himself a lot of money. I'm pretty sure V does the retest for free the 2nd time. 3rd time of course a small charge.
