So before I get the lecture, I have done a search and most threads I find are in regards to SC or turbo setup. Putting this in DIY bc I would like to work on this myself rather than pay a dealer/mechanic, etc

My setup is 2000 3.2L , with Cantrell CF intake, Cantrell Headers and Anytime Exhaust. (Stock cats)

When I look at the tips after a day of driving the tips are black with smog. The car seems to be running rich.

Before I pay $150 an hour to tell me how rich, is there anything any of you would suggest I look to do to lean out the A/F while on the dyno that day to adjust it?

Again I have not tested rich yet but I have dealt with enough cars to know when an A/F is a bit rich and gas milage is a bit lower than what it should be.

Thanks in advance-

Not enough info to tell.....
start with the basics....clean the TB/ATS, good O2 sensors helps so are plugs.
Injectors may need to be cleaned and flowed. You have OEM cats and that cleans up the most carbon. With the mods you have, you should be leaner than richer.

you have oem ecu and there is no adjustment. you need a rom chip from Prospeed with the mods you have to get the a/f right.

The sure way to tell is the tail pipe test but don't know if GA has that.

thanks for the responses,
Yes had the car for years, and I have always noticed it but it seems a bit worse right now.

GA does have a SMOG test to get your plates, and it passed that this past march so its not that bad, im just noticing when I have to wash the car that the tail pipes are a bit of a pain to clean more and more due to carbon.

I had the heads worked on 2-3 years ago due to bent valves so the head cleaned and polished, new plugs were put in at that time and I only have about 7K miles on it since then, maybe 10 at the most-- I guess I could try plugs.

Car only has 48K miles so I dont think it would be an injector issue at this time, but I could do a fuel additive for a while to see what that does and if it has any effect i guess I could have them serviced.

I agree with my mods I should be leaner-- that is why im confused.

thanks again for any more help

The spark plugs will tell you if you're running rich by their color/deposits. If you run strong to redline with no error codes I wouldn't worry about it too much. The ECU's in these cars will usually tell you if somethings too far out of whack.

Thought so, think i may have met you at nopi once years ago.

You need to pull the spark plugs to see how they look. If you are getting that much carbon buildup in the pipes there should be buidup on the plugs. Make sure to keep up with which plug comes from which cylinder in case they look different. Then let us know what you find.

Thank you, for the advice.

Comtec, yes we met at NOPI and I bought the LED bulbs from you on the spot. I used to live in Memphis where I went to school for 4 years. Came back to ATL as home.

Did you ever think about your map sensor or temp sensor? The car could be reading at a different atmospheric temp, that could be giving you false readings?

just a thought.

Yeah i remember, hope you are doing well. LED's have changed a lot since then, still using them?
