Replaced under warranty?

Greetings

I got Acura to replace the mats in mine -- it is still under the original warranty. I took it in for servicing and told the Rep that I did not think the mats in a $90K car should have failed in 3 1/2 years. They looked at the mats, agreed, and changed them -- no charge. I do get Black Beauty serviced there, so I am paying for it, but no charge on the paperwork.

Cheers,
Martin

If they do replace them under warranty, that is extremely uncommon and generous. It would have never even occurred to me that they would consider replacing them under warranty.

Here is Honda's policy on accessory warranty. Though I don't know if it applies only to the original purchaser of the accessory or not.
"WARRANTY - Every Honda Genuine Accessory comes with a limited warranty from Honda. When installed on your new Honda vehicle, Honda Accessories are covered for 12 months/12,000 miles or the remainder of your new vehicle warranty, whichever is longer." (taken from a dealership page).

Warranty of merchantability applies when you do not sign a "limited warranty". Anytime you sign that little paper in the box send right away blah blah warranty, you are limiting yourself. Depending on the life expectancy of accessories if they deem it normal wear and tear then they may not replace it or if it is damaged due to negligence beyond normal operation and it is passed the 12 month period. However they may just replace given the mileage.

Update on this. Stopped by the dealer today. Well, the closest one.

Mats and a few other items all replaced under warranty.

I like to think its more than just being a pretty face!

For the first time ever I agree with Ken.

Don't push your luck on the warrenty thing. I did once when I had a Lexus and basicly they just told me to never come back. Even though everything was technically replacable under warrenty. So when I took my Jag to the dealer and they charged me $100 to wash the windshield off (seriously) I grit my teeth sooo bad and paid because I knew I would need to be coming back later with more serious warrenty issues and those are the battles I will fight.

If a dealer ever told me to never come back, I would do exactly that (and tell all of my co-workers, friends and family to never go there). I'd rather go to a place that takes care of its customers.

I would be embarrassed. You should be too.
