Remus or Stock exhaust.

I've found my NSX and will pick it up soon.

It's at a dealer and he asked me if I wanted the stock exhaust (from another customer who wanted to trade) or a Remus exhaust. Both exhaust are used 10 000 miles (stock) and 15000 miles (Remus)

If I swapped to the Remus, he'll give med a 500$ discount. (and do the swap work of course)

I like stock, and the rest of the car is stock, but the Remus is already on the car and maybe some day I'll want an aftermarked exhaust.

What do you guys think I shoud do. Will the exhaust add any power at all, or just sound? Quality Stock vs. aftermarket?

Thanks

I would keep th Remus exhaust because you can always get a stock exhaust for less.. and you can alway sell the exhaust for more than $500.... plus you should be getting more HP with the less restrictive Remus exhaust compared to the stock unit. If you add headers it should total close to 20 RWHP..... (there is speculation whether or not if the exhaust adds more HP alone or if the headers adds more, but many agree that the combination of both yield approx the cumulative of 20+)

Congrats on your NSX!

I'm not sure about the quality of the Remus compared to stock.
In a recent posted question of mine the general consensus was that the stock exhaust will last the lifetime of the car (yes) and I'm not sure the Remus will do that (or any other aftermarket, although they all seem to be made of stainless steel).
I just ordered the Taitec and am very anxious to get it on the car. A friend of mine has the Remus but I think he would trade for something else if he could (not to stock though).
The Remus might give you a couple of extra HP but it's the combination of headers and exhaust which will bring out the most.
The Remus is lauder than stock but it's up to you to keep it.
In your specific case, I think I would keep the Remus. You already have the aftermarket then. There are more people who have a original stock exhaust for sale than people who will sell their aftermarket one.

Thanks guys.
The fact that stock exhaust can be bought for less than 100$ makes the decision a lot easier. If the Remus falls apart I can alway get a cheap stock exhaust or get some other aftermarket exhaust.

Keep the Remus ! It looks and sounds better than the "Battlestar Galactica" exhaust ! ;)

I don't think it will falls apart soon. I already had 5 Remus exhaust till now on different cars and never had a problem with any of them !

Some F1 cars use Remus too ! Should tell you something about build quality ! ;)

Have fun with your NSX,

David

I am with Enzo! I had two Remus on my two NSX before... very good quality, decently loud sound (not too loud, don't worry!) and it looks 10x better (IMO).

Imagine, for my first one I paid 1100$ for it! You get it... and "receive" also money for it! No questions... get the Remus!

I'll go with the Remus. Thank's guys.
By the way, it was the other way around. I'' "recieve" money if I got the stock exhaust. Still, I'll go for the Remus.

If everything checks out on the car I'll have in in two weeks or so.
I can't wait.....6 long years and lot of hard work will finally pay off.....

Hold the compliments for a few more weeks, I don't want to get too excited until I actually have the car.

When I get it I will let you all know first!

It's not the car in the picture, I'll tell you that much.
:-))

I am suuuuuper excited though. Never been this close to a deal before....

BITer,

I am very curious about the car you are buying. I know exactly how you feel because just over a year ago I was in the same situation. And still, driving the NSX makes my day OK.

I'll post as soon as the deal is final.
I need a 3rd party inspection and my final personal inspection to go through first.

Trying to keep it real and tell myself that the deal may go sour, but I certaintly don't hope so.

I'll post as soon as I have more info. I'm even excited that you guys are excited. NSXPRIME is my second home and the only place where people understand why and what I'm doing, beeing obsessed with NSX'es.

xx R

Well, good luck! You'll never regret it, especially when you get in the driver's seat! It's only when I don't have enough time to drive it is when I get beside myself

Yes, you're right ! I have the Remus and I really like it even more now with the RM cold intake and the Comptech cat bypass pipes...the sound is PERFECT (at least for me).

Very High Tech sound and just loud enough to set off the alarms on the cars around my NSX in the underground garage ! :D

About the wheels of this red NSX, FYI I have the same but black with a polished lip ! :)

Regards,

David
