i just peeled away the tint, and didn't realize the "adhesive" like material is still on the window itself. if i take a razor blade, it slow comes off, but looks like it'll take a lot of work....

1) how do you remove tint properly?

2) is there anything that can dissolve or wipe off that adhesive layer without having to scrap it off?

just had my tints removed and redone. They used suds and distilled water to ease the adhesive and the razored it. Take in mind these were the original tints from ~14 yrs ago. :) Use a protectant (cardboard, molded plastic)on the top of the door panel (to prevent any mishaps of sliding with teh razor) and just scrape away. You ahve to hav it moist. Hope that helps. The rear window has to be meticulously removed so you dont eliminate the defrost lines.

Now maybe the adhesive remover "Goof Off" will work if its really on there hard.

There's not really an easy way to do it with common household cleaners. I would suggest windex or soap & water to loosen the adhesive up a bit, but it's ultimately going to take some "good ol' elbow grease. I used to work at a tint/detail shop in college, and if the tint has been on for a while it makes it even harder. If the tint is cheap (guessing from the fact it's on an NSX, I doubt it) it usually comes off easier. Good luck. The razor blade won't hurt the glass, but be careful around the rubber near the door.

I've used Windex with amonia to remove the adhesive. Single edge razor blades work great, just be sure not to take any of your defroster lines off and don't press too hard as I've seen others cut the glass with the sharp edges.

On my Landcruiser I removed the door carsd and use petrol ( gas ) on a rag and an old membership card. I do not think a razor blabe is a good idea.

I just had the titanium tint removed on my xB today. I have always used the razor blade method and nothing could be easier. If you peel the tint right, it will peel off and just leave behind the adhesive. Once you are down to the adhesive, it's a piece of cake because all you do is use some soapy water or windex to lubricate it. Then use the blade as a scraper and it just scrapes right off cleanly. You just scrape in clean lines and before you know it, all the adhesive is gone. I prefer a cool window as this keeps the adhesive more solid and easier to scrape off.

Today I didn't remove the tint myself but the tint shop that was retinting used this same method. Took less than 5 minutes total.

thanks guys... yeah.... i tried windex, as it was readily available around the house. sprayed it on, let it soak for like a minute or two, then slowly scrapped off with razor. the adhesive started to clump up together, and had to use like half a roll of paper towel to pick up the access gunk building up... but all in all... about an hours work and it was done. heard if done under the sun, warm weather its also easier.... so probably me doing it outside like 2am wasn't the best idea...

thanks guys once again!

Next time use a heat gun and steamer w/ goo gone and windex and a lot of paper towels. thats how most shops do it.
