I know I have seen a post about removing the Acura letters from rear center light. I have not been able to find it.

Question: How do you remove the rear 'glass' from the back. I picked up a used center light but the bolt are removed and the wholes are beat up. I've though about changing the backs. Seems like I'm going to break it.

Thoughts?

put light in oven set at 100 degrees on a pan, this will heat up the rubber sealant/glue, will not hurt the plastic, then peel apart the lens remove the acura film then reglue it with similar rubber glue ( auto parts store )

or buy the newer style center, and peel off the acura logo since its 3m sticky taped on.

Must soak the block in hot water for some time for the glue becomes soft, then it is easy to separate the plastic housing, water should be hot but not boiling does not deform the plastic I do not know the ideal temp unfortunately

Worked like a charm. I opted for the oven. I put it at the lowest setting (170 degrees) for 10 min And 90% came apart. Put it in for another 5 and with some effort it came apart.

Just for reference, the Honda Element guys would crack their headlights by wrapping them in a wet towel and putting them in the oven at 200F.

Worked for both of mine. Seems more gentle, and avoids hot-spots.

I would definitely go that route next time although I appear to be in good shape. Now for the repair... That will be a little more subjective.

its all good there is always different methods to doing anything. as long as someone has tried it before and no problems your good.

good luck on the upgrade.
