Rear trunk hydraulic shocks

I bought a pair form Lift Support Depot (part PM3322T) and they work great on initial installation. The support body is a bit longer compared to the unit I removed from my car. The plastic retainer that holds the wire for the third brake light doesn't fit the longer body, but I got it to fit by cutting a little bit of plastic off the retainer.

Shopping online it did not seem like the ball studs would be included, but I was happily surprised that they came with my purchase. They are quite a bit shorter (in both the depth of the threads and the height of the ball) than the ball studs which I removed from my car, but still work fine.

The ball socket is an interesting design, with a retaining wire and also a retaining ring deep inside the socket. I imagine that the ball stud would be difficult to remove due to the retaining ring, though I have not tried. The ball sockets are also removable from the support shaft. I expect if/when I have to replace these with the same item I can just unscrew the shaft and leave the ball socket and ball stud in place on the car.

The first photo shows the Lift Support Depot model on the left, and the support I removed from my car on the right. I believe the removed support is OEM, but cannot guarantee since I am not the original owner of the car. The other photos show a close-up of the ball socket.

I am in Canada and these supports from Amazon seemed the most practical for me to buy since most other options were from the US or overseas and would have cost me quite a bit more after shipping. I am unsure of the quality of the supports I removed from the car, so decided against rebuilding them.
