Pros and Cons of Automatic Trans NSX

I just spent a weekend autox'ing my A/T. It was this team challenge thing where we had to trade cars on the team. I never run in car in "D" I always launch in first then find a good spot where the car is fairly settled to get to second. On tight corners I can drop it back to first pretty easy. One of my team mates tried driving the NSX in "D": big mistake. The car shifts by rpms and not by what the suspension is doing. An unexpected shift to third on a sweeper put him into a spin. "D" is for the freeway. Once they all got the hang of manual shifting it, they all loved it. And of course i loved their 5 speeds. I guess my left foot did remember what to do.:D

Mines shifted gears at 180 in a sweeper. Good thing it was banked.

:eek: That's kilometers, I assume... still, pretty scary!

I have to add " NSX Shifting " is one of the best.
The automatic is really losing a lot of fun factors.

Now if you ask me "should I buy a Manaul Mercedes?", it would be the other way around... I vote the shifting gate and feel the worst in Mercedes...

I had been "forced" to stick with an Automatic Accord for last 8 yrs. No test drive of Manual car, I mean it, None but the recent test drive on a C class made me feel happy in my own honda...

NSX, even though it doesn't have a lot of torque, but it's not as bad as a Civic / S2000, I've been in heavy traffic in it, and I don't think it's not that bad to drive in stop and go traffic.

Now If i live in DownTown San Francisco, I might think twice to drive a manual nsx there...
