How many of you ask a higher price for your car and then haggling down? How many Just offer your car at the best price and wait till you get exactly that?

I like the idea of one price car selling in theory. But always end up playing the other game because more people grew up with the - offer/counter-offer mentality.

What's a good spread?

How does a buyer sort out who is using which? Is the guy really a one price seller... or just a tough negotiator?

Ask +$900 on a car 45 - 70 and let them 'talk' you down. You might eveb get lucky and sell it for that!

It's been my experience (sold maybe 6 cars in my llifetime) that people want to feel like they are getting a deal. I have never priced a used car and had someone offer me what it was priced at. It would be nice. People have always tried to lowball me so I end up haggling to get what I want out of the car. Even if it's just 100 lower than ask. People have always tried to talk me down.

I, on the other hand, am a little different. I figure out what I'm willing to pay for something before hand. If that's the ask then I buy it without haggling. If I have to haggle a little bit to get to what I'm willing to pay then I do. I would much rather just go and buy without haggling.

Oh yea. I have always haggled with dealers.
