Hello Chris,

What type of jack/lift are you using to lift your nsx. I am planning on purchasing a jack/lift soon and it would be very helpful if you can provide me that info.

regards,
Joseph

Joseph it is a Snap On Midrise lift; Models: JBC6501E, about $5000.00 new, but there are many scissor, 2, or 4 posts lift for less money that will work. You will need a 5" to clear the lift, so i had to used two 2x12 boards.

Chris, I am amazed by your level of attention to detail ... very well done! Your car is loaded with great mods done so tastefully but yet they do not scream look at me... it takes a connaisseur to see everything you have done to the NSX! I hope I will have a chance to see you and your car at NSXPO in toronto next year, hopefully I will have purchased an NSX by then, if not I will show up with my 350Z (soon to be 380Z RS, stroked 3.8l twin turbo).

Cheers !!!!

All my parts came in today at Pohanka Acura after weeks, because some parts were on back order.

Hey Chris

Is the the NSX-R ABS upgrade?

Fantastic!!! Everything seems to be stock but nothing is stock I imagine?. Very professional and elegant. Like the Garage too huh.

Hey Chris

Is this the NSX-R ABS upgrade?

No, I had RJP check for me, the ABS Modulator Assy, have different part numbers but he said that his source in Japan said that they are the same. I was going to order it any but it would cost more than $500.00 more

AK also said there would only be little difference if any.

Man thats an awesome jack. Now you got me wanting to purchase one. I might go for a generic midrise jack... I think generic ones are in the 1200 mark. I'm going to start a new thread on this topic with the pic you provided... if you don't mind me doing so.

Chris,

I hope that I will be able to see your NSX in person some day, as I am sure the pictures taken do not do it justice.

Four pages and over twenty-two thousand views later your Sebring Silver 02 conversion is first class in my opinion.

Some day you should have some professional pictures taken similar to Steve's as seen in the link below:

Thanks for sharing your project with the NSX community.

Mike

Car looks great! How do you like that lift? Did you not have the room for a 2 post? I'm am looking into what I can fit into my little city of chicago 2 car garage. I was hoping if I put the 2 post far enough in that they cleared the door when up, I could then shut the garage door to get max height with the car on the lift. Let me know if you considered this and couldn't make it work. Keep up the good, it looks awesome.

I finally have some down time so I will start on my ABS upgrade this weekend, I will list all parts needed for the conversion.

how much are conversion kits?

SOS has it for $1,598.50 http://www.scienceofspeed.com/products/braking_performance_parts/NSX/ScienceofSpeed/NA2_ABS_System_Upgrade/. I will need to add up all my receipts, but I think I got everything for about $1300.00 from Greg at Pohanka Acura, Chantilly, VA 20171, 1-888-285-7061.

SOS has a fair price, because most of the parts were on backorder and I am not sure if you can still get the GT-One Conversion Harness.

But new abs don't need also new electronic ECU or remain the same??

Thanks

Wow! Night and day difference. Wish someone could get the NSX-R upgraded ABS to work on our cars.

I started on the ABS upgrade today. First I removed all the brake fluid with Astro Oil Extractor, so I would not make a big mess with brake fluid leaking all over. Removed all the old ABS and all the hard brake lines including the two lines to the left and right front brake. Removed the heater blower for better access to the right brake line.

Remove the the old ABS ECU behind the glove box.

Chris,

Was wondering, is this an install you are doing all by yourself. Are there any special tools to do the ABS conversion?

Also, did you weigh the old and new ABS system? Am wondering what the weight difference would be.

but I think I got everything for about $1300.00

With or without the GT Rom harness?

Did you have to bend the brake lines? If so, the old ones or the new ones?

Good project! Interested in hearing a feedback how you like it.

My friend Bryan is helping me with the upgrade, no special tools needed.
  • 10mm Flare Nut wrench
  • 10mm, 12mm, 14mm socket

Also, did you weigh the old and new ABS system? Am wondering what the weight difference would be.

I did not weigh the old or new ABS, but it is about 15lbs lighter.

It was about $1300.00 with the harness.

I used the GT-One harness, it would be allot of work without it. I would have to find the connectors for the ABS and cut and splice the wire inside the cab.

Did you have to bend the brake lines? If so, the old ones or the new ones?

I bought all new brake lines a total of 8. The old lines will not work because the Old ABS pump lines are in different location.

Test fit the ABS pump and brake lines, I have a little trouble with the lines. The front left and right brake lines I had to bend the ends to get them to installed. I was not sure which lines go where, but I end up figuring it out.

I am missing Pipe S brake line, I have to order it from the dealer. Some how I miss place it.

Stopped by the dealer today to order more parts for the ABS upgrade.

  • 46372-SL0-D00--PIPE S Brake Line - Some how I lost it
  • 46396-SL0-003---Clip for the 3 brake lines connects to the Proportioning Valve Bracket
  • 46395-SM4-951--Clip for the 4 brake lines - not needed just wanted a new one
  • 95701-08040-05--Proportioning Valve bolt 8x40
  • 46380-SH3-000---Brake line Grommet - where the brake lines go through the wheel well - not needed just wanted new ones
  • Wanted to order new gaskets for the heater blower, but Acura don't not sell just the gaskets.

The ABS Upgrade is complete now, the brake feels little soft even after bleeding them 2 times. The upgrade is fairly easy to do about 3/10 technical level.
