Who else listens to this station? Pretty unique from what I've seen and I give it a 3 thumbs up so far; I'm hearing a lot of new music that I don't find on my own when using Rhapsody. And it's free and unobstrusive..........what's up with that?

I've been using Pandora since December of 2007. It's been a great service listening to it on the computer and on the iPhone. I don't think there's anything else like it on the internet.

The big worry is that there are rumors of Pandora shutting down service due to the rising cost of royalty fees. That would be absolutely terrible.

i've got a pandora account and like it.

it'd be a shame if pandora failed, but if the business is built on misuse of the music and not paying what the creator / owners of the music want to be paid, it may well disappear.

Re: Plea from Pandora

Hal, I can't open your link but I assume it's probably related to this Email I just got. :frown:

Hi, it's Tim from Pandora;

After a yearlong negotiation, Pandora, SoundExchange and the RIAA are finally optimistic about reaching an agreement on royalties that would save Pandora and Internet radio. But just as we've gotten close, large traditional broadcast radio companies have launched a covert lobbying campaign to sabotage our progress.

Friday, Congressman Jay Inslee, and several co-sponsors, introduced legislation to give us the extra time we need but the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), which represents radio broadcasters such as Clear Channel, has begun intensively pressuring lawmakers to kill the bill. We have just days to keep this from collapsing.

This is a blatant attempt by large radio companies to suffocate the webcasting industry that is just beginning to offer an alternative to their monopoly of the airwaves.

Please call your Congressperson right now and ask them to support H.R. 7084, the Webcaster Settlement Act of 2008 - and to not capitulate to pressure from the NAB. Congress is currently working extended hours, so even calls this evening and over the weekend should get answered.

If the phone is busy, please try again until you get through. These calls really do make a difference.

Representative Daniel E. Lungren: 202-225-5716

Thanks so much for you ongoing support.

Tim

Re: Just got this...........

anyone else getting this?
Hi, it's Tim from Pandora;

Today we took a giant step forward when the House of Representatives supported Pandora and Internet radio and passed the Webcaster Settlement Act of 2008. Now we need your help so that the Senate will pass it also - and quickly!

After a yearlong negotiation, Pandora, SoundExchange and the RIAA are finally optimistic about reaching an agreement on royalties that would save Pandora and Internet radio. The legislation would give us the extra time we need to finalize the deal.

Please call your Senators Monday morning starting at 9:00 (Eastern) and ask them to support H.R. 7084* , the Webcaster Settlement Act of 2008.

Senator Barbara Boxer: (202) 224-3553

Senator Dianne Feinstein: (202) 224-3841

If the phone is busy, please try again until you get through. These calls really do make a difference.

Thanks so much for you ongoing support.

Tim

*The person who answers the phone in your Senator's office may ask for this bill number. H.R. 7084 is actually a House of Representatives bill number, not a Senate bill number. You can assure them that in this unusual case, the Senate is actually voting on the House bill number.

I love Pandora as well. I have found many artists similar to what I listen to, that I would have had no idea they even existed. Pandora on the iphone is simply amazing, great music whereever you go. Highly recommended.

I've been using it along side Launch Cast Plus for a long time (Launch cast since 2003) and both have been great. I like the iphone app and use it in my car.
