Owned a GT-R for Two Weeks

Double the power of the NSX like what I did and the smile is even larger and it helps suppress the desire for an entry level P, F, or L car.....

suppression of symptoms is all well and good... but there's nothing other than getting the other car to serve as a cure..
my nsx is pretty much stoopid fast... but it "ain't no FGT"

lmao!!!

Where is that review..

go back to the NSX then you have no more problems and you can stop wasting money LOL

I got a TT nsx as a DD, and a rossion q1 for fun. The nsx is probably as fast, maybe a bit faster now from a roll, but the q1 seems a bit more fun to drive because of its light weight. Just loves to corner, and the engine really sounds at home between 4K and 6K rpm...nsx not so much, just seems to strain at 5K and up.

Just my two cents but from an engineering stand point the driver is the weak link in the equation when it comes to designing a car (sports car in particular). That's why pretty much every super car built today has a PDK transmission and enough computing power to do a mission to Mars.

I have never heard in all my years on Prime someone claim that their NSX strained above 5k RPM....you might want to get a compression/leak down and then if that's ok.....get a new tuner

true or could be vtec issue

Over the weekend I drove a 2013 GTR black series on loan from a buddy. Probably one of the worst weekends since it rained quite a bit so that meant windows up driving. I was in crutches from a b-ball injury so decided to turn the radio down for some peace/quiet and amazed the noises I heard.

Yes we all know how fast the GTR is but this thing makes a lot of noises that normal "sane" people like my wife would think something is broken for sure. I know the GTR is all mighty and has a fan base but man if I was going to spend this kind of cash, it would NEVER be for a GTR.

This thing feels cheap and comparing it to a Porsche would be just insane. The fit/fitment and quality of the P-car is not even comparable. Driving feel is pretty good and taking freeway sweepers is a lot of fun. The car seems to have infinite grip and accelerates hard. The info-electronics are also pretty cool.

When I gave the keys back to him - he asked what I thought and I only told him "not bad". Didn't want to make him feel bad but this is not an impressive car. If you only care about speed then this car might work. The rear end is pretty menacing I have to agree but otherwise it's pretty bland.

Glad I picked a different car.

^^^ Good review. I keep getting temped to pick up a used one, but then I keep reading reviews like this.
The biggest downside to me is no shifting. That just seems lame in a sportcar.
Of course I haven't driven one yet, so I don't know.

exactly. and mission to Mars are almost a straight line just like many of these videos on Youtube. Take a lesson or two from Billy and you'll be much faster w/o letting the PDK having all the fun and not you.

For what it's worth I hate the trend towards PDK transmissions and would never own a sports car with one. My observation is based upon what car manufacturers today are doing with pretty much every sports car to include our beloved gen 2 NSX. They are engineering us out of the cars. I know I'm not faster shifting then a PDK but shifting my own gears is a lot more fun and involved in the whole driving experience. If I was racing for a living maybe I'd want the computer to do the work but since I'm not I'd rather enjoy the drive.

Keep in mind different years drive VERY different.

I've driven a modded 09, stock 2010, modded 2012, stock 2013 black series.

If it was my money, I'd do either a 2012 or 2013 since I heard those years have all the little quirks taken cared of.

I've driven a slightly used 2009 GT-R with 10k miles. I thought the "feel" felt pretty refined for the price of the vehicle. That being said the only reason why they compare this to a Porsche is based on #'s. The fit and finish of a P-car is super nice but almost comes at double the price.

My .02 is that since you're married with a wife and 2 kids, the GTR would not be for you if that was the car you were going to take any of your family members in. Which makes sense why you were looking into the Panamera since it has luxury/class/space/fast and your wife wouldn't be complaining about any noises.Even though the noises in the cabin were loud & raw, i personally liked it but then again i'm a single guy.

In all honesty every time one of these GT-R threads comes up on the nsx forums i always get ready to read a lot of "bashing".

Yes the car is auto... Yes the car is ugly/big... Yes the car is brute POWER... Yes it's not the NSX ...we all know this but have you driven one? I'm hoping for more based reviews by someone that has driven one compared to "I heard this... or heard that"

We should really stop comparing the GTR to the NSX, really they are apples and oranges.

^I'm not sure if your response is directed at me or just in "general"?

I have driven the car plenty of times if you read my post. I'm not bashing the car but just posting my thoughts. If you like the GTR great :)

oh my fault, just in general

i was quoting your point of "feeling cheap" compared to the P-car

Which P-car are u talking about? there's A LOT to choose from the list.

I would think it would be the 911 turbo since that's the GTR rival, not sure many would take the GTR over 14' turbo S
