I was wondering what do you guys pay for insurance on your NSX's (please include age, state in where you live, and Year & Model)? I was thinking about buying a 91-93 Coupe and was just seeing what it might be. Thanks

Insurance is determined by individual factors like your age, your driving record, your town, your neighborhood, your marital status, etc.

The very best way you can find out how much it will cost you for insurance on your NSX is to call your insurance company and ask. You can do this using a description of an NSX you might buy, before you actually buy it. Another alternative to get quotes that are relevant to you is to use an on-line quoting service such as http://www.insweb.com

Forums Nazi, what would we do without you.
I'm sure my co-workers are wondering why I'm sitting here giggling at my computer, but that's fine with me. :P

So. Cal $1700 / yr for a 91NSX and a 93 Lexus. Full coverage. 34 Yrs old, drivin' since 16. Absolutely clean record. I thought I was payin' too much 'til I saw the NYCNSX with a $4K bill. Damn. You're gettin' worked.

Unless you live in the same state, and same city, and same neighborhood, and have the same driving record, and are the same age, etc., you have absolutely no way of comparing his insurance rates to yours. His may be the best rates he can get for his individual circumstances - which have nothing to do with yours.

I'll tag on my as reference, So Cal also, with 91' nsx, 01 lexus, full coverage, 29 yrs old. IF i had clean record, it would've been ~1500, however, i am paying ~2500 cause i do have 2 points on record.

Settle down. I agree. But - you GOTTA admit, compared to me and that guy payin' $54 a month, that guy's payin' alot. Look at the guy payin' $400. My GOD. I'm definitely gonna shop around, based on this post alone!

No, I just signed on with them. But from what I understand, it's similar to collector car insurance, where the vehicle is insured for an "agreed upon price" (IOW, they pay you for the agreed value, not some depreciated price). I'm not aware of any other major differences in the claims process.

I inquired about this topic a while back, and got some useful info:

You'll also see major differences from different insurance companies for the same person, in the same locale, with the same driving record.

Deductibles can also make huge difference.

I've generally gone with fairly high deductibles over the years. I've found that very often the savings can be huge and one or two years of claim free driving more than make for the difference.

You guys with very high rates may want to see what effect $1000 or $2000 deductibles will have on your annual rate. You may be surprised.

Agreed. All my policies have the highest deductible allowed by my insurer. The way I figure it, I'm relying on insurance to cover catastrophic events, not nickle & dime stuff. NSX owners, especially, should be able to afford the higher deductible.

$550 / year. St. Louis - MO, 34, married, wife has had 2 accidents in 2 years (minor), house covered too, $500 deductable, 250k total payout

I use AAA. Lowest price of the "big guys" and excellent service. I guess if you don't have AAA allready you have to factor in the membership ($60) as they will not sell to non members.

Good luck

Damn, Nick I am north of you with a clean and I mean clean record and I am being quoted
$1650 a year. Hell I am moving.
Heck I'd have an extra $100 a month for those
damn piano lessons or whatever the flavor of the month is.

OK - I lied!

Here is the details as I just got a fax from my agent. I looked at the wrong car but not too different.

Here you go:
91' NSX
Coverage = 100/300/50
Medical Payments = $2000
Uninsured = 50/100
Deductable = $1000

I have the following discounts: multi car, air bag, anti theft, ABS, home / auto

Total = $332/6 months or $664/year

Mine is a lot less then yours but your car is much more expensive then mine. What killed us was the 2 accidents where we were 100% at fault and claimed against us. They were non-insury and relatively minor - but you know how it goes. If we get another accident or some tickets it may go up dramaticaly.

95 NSX
Coverage = 100/300/300
Med=? Missed that one
Uninsured= 300/300
Deduct=500
Rental=30/700

Roughly $1150 per year.
Home would drop it all about $200 more per year. In all actuality you have just saved me
about $650, I used you guidelines and the
race card to get a good rate:^).
Seriously let me know if there is a reference program for AAA , I will make sure
that you get the credit. If not I got the next dinner.
Damn glad I was on the net today.
I change over my policy in 2 days.
I think I may have a little too much coverage
too bad you can customize the limits for each
car. 9lb kit in the future with that kind of savings. I will sneek that into the buget then tell her about the break in the insurance.
Thanks

44, married, one speeding ticket on the record, multiple cars and multiple policies with State Farm for about twenty years - coverage for my 95T with $500 deductible is $78 per month.

And if I see those two dorks giving the "thumbs up" again, I'll scream.

$1000 deductable .... and for where i live what im paying it is a good rate....ive spoken to other new drivers and you should see what there payin...when shopping for a car that u plan to keep in the NyC area people are more concerned with what insurance is gonna cost them first. Its because of all the insurance fraud that we are subject to these kind of rates.
