Does anyone remember Top Gear for SNES? I used to LOVE that game when I was only 10 or 11 (I think?) I always recall the fastest car being this black "corvette" looking thing with a much wider, aggresive rear - end. For some reason it hit me yesterday: I think that was an NSX!!!!

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

When I was 11, the only game console we had was the Commodore 64. Later on we "upgraded" to the Collecovision "Adam", and played such cool games as "Buck RogerS"...

When I was 11, I too had Intellivision (I still have my Intellivision 2 and more than 50 games!)

You guys are making me feel old.

As for other games I can think of featuring NSXs, the ones I can think of off the top of my head are:

I STILL have my original Atari 2600 from when I was 5-6 (I think). Remember Dad kept hogging Space Invaders. Have about 30 cartridges and 5 joysticks. I think one joystick works.

Next game system for me was the Nintendo 64. Had to wait till after college for that one. Mom and Dad frowned on us spending too much time in front of the idiot box and made us go outside, to do normal kids stuff.

That's the problem with kids today....None of them have ever fallen out of a tree building a treehouse with nails taken from a scrap pile and straightend out to use again. Long live the good ol' southern raising....Although the whoopin's got rather old rather quickly. :)

So did mine...until it turned into a career.

I got my next consoles (and a then impressive 386DX/25mhz PC) while I was IN college...because I spent summers (and part-time through my senior year) developing video game art for games on the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo.

I also still have my Genesis (and my IBM PCjr), but I traded my Super Nintendo to shave $100 off the original Sony PlayStation on its launch day!

Incidentally, my Genesis and GigaPocket equipped Sony VAIO are hooked up to a 13" Hitachi TV that was once used at Mattel Electronics for testing Intellivision games. I picked the TV up at an auction after Mattel Electronics folded...I still can't believe this TV works (the tuner doesn't get many channels, but channel 3 comes in perfectly!) :D

I had no idea xbox had done another gotham racing game. Loved the first one so much my wife though I was going mad b/c I played it on the big screen all the time and made it up to driving the f50. Bought a whole wheel/peddle system and made a custom seat for it. Don't know much about this gaming stuff as i'm late to the show and prob older than most here, but are any other racing games that were afore mentioned available for the xbox.

brian, u're right

Brian, you're absolutely right. I too had that system, and I can ASSURE YOU it was an NSX. If I remember correctly, it was labled something else, maybe because of licensing issues.

I remember always wanting to be the Green one (hahah good times).

That same game had a "nitro" feature, where it was just like a nitrous switch haah no purging though.

Sorry, thats the last of my nerd moments. [prob not]

ravi:D

Isn't our redline at 8000RPM?! Why does the picture with the red NSX (the one that has 6th in the upper left hand corner) show a tachometer with a redline at 7500RPM??

Regards.

I started in 1983 with the Vectrex ... that kicked off a Commodores/PCs/Console playing carrer! :D

But the first game I playd with a NSX was 4D Sport Driving (=Stunts ins the US).
The hours I also spent watching the videos of the featured cars in the first Need for Speed (before on the 3DO then on the PC!).

You can download the Top Gear for SNES ROM here. SNES emulators can be found here. (no warranties, run a virus-scan on the emu before you run, etc.)

I was hooked Stunts for a while. The next game I played with an NSX was the original Need For Speed. It was somewhere around that time that I got serious about (one day) getting an NSX. Man, that was a great game. :)

I started in 1983 with the Vectrex ...

Jay Smith, my previous employer, was responsible for creating the Vectrex system. :p

One of my current coworkers collects Vectrex machines (I think he has four)...and he collects classic arcade machines as well.

Funny Akira3D started this topic at this time... i recently saw these Nintendo Gameboy games featuring the NSX:

Also GT Advance for Gameboy (why is Acura NSX in "high-speed class"?!?!)

...almost worth buying a gameboy now. :D

Wow, so he was responible for the 2000+ hours I spent on it! I still have it but the screen does not work anymore  ..

Low quality: 20 years of usage and it already broke. They do not do the good-old-VG-system they used to produce... ;)

Some of these games have gone into the public domain.. ie. have been offered on free CD's with a magazine etc. Does anyone know if this is the case with the original Need for Speed? I remember there was a great video sequence for each car and I'd love to nab a copy if it's PD now.

I remember Stunts well... that was a great game!

I have an AVI of the NSX video clip featured on PlayStation version of Need for Speed (extracted directly from the game CD, not videotaped).

Actually, I wasn't aware that any of these games have entered public domain. Emulators are extremely cool (especially MAME), but I'd bet that it isn't legal to possess any of the ROMs these emulators use. What magazines have included them with CDs? I know there are a few Intellivision games that are offered for free download, but that's about it.

Uh...Neo...I didn't start this topic.

BTW, I never thought to pick up racing games that feature NSXs for my Gameboy Advace...I hear GT Advance 3 is actually quite good for an arcade racer.

Thanks NeoNSX for pointing out the NSX games available for my... err... daughter's Gameboy Advance SP. :D

I'll be getting the GT game for sure! (After I get her a game of course... I can't have more games than her... that's just wrong.)
