The same here in the UK ... Audi got it right with the TT for the UK market and sold a lot of them. The problem for the R8 is that is looks toooooo much like a fat TT and whats with those silly LED lights at the front? I recently parked next to a couple of R8 at a dealer and it really does make the NSX look petite. Its like the sexy little sister next to her big brother :biggrin:VanceHu and I have been saying this for months:biggrin:
The PC brigade have killed the low, sexy, tight design for sports cars, particulalry from a main stream manufacturer.
IMO this R8 is not disimilar to the problem Honda faces in trying to release a new super car. The NSX was so fresh and advanced that they have two problems ... 1) to break new ground as before and 2) to deliver another timeless design.
I like the idea that Honda will probably go with the front engine, rear (or 4WD) layout, I just hope they get it right. If they can produce a truly better car than the XK or AMV8 for similar money then I think they will be in the right space.
To try and replace the NSX would IMO be a mistake. It continues to gather respect and new fans and will be remembered as a true great.
Audi will sell a lot of R8's for sure. If I check autotrader there are currently over 35 for sale in various specs, yet only 5 NSX, 3 being autos. I cant help but think that in 12 months time the numbers will be similar for the NSX yet double or more for the R8.
Anyway, these are just my thoughts.. I would be keen to know which mag and when its available please? I guess its a US only so if someone could pick up a second copy I'd be happy to cover costs and shipping.
Thanx and regards, Paul
