Good evening everyone - just joined NSX Prime and I'm from the Ottawa area. I currently own a 2002 BMW M3 and realize the Acura NSX is something I must have. I will be putting up my M3 for sale. If there is anyone in the Ottawa area that is a member on this board it would be great to talk to you and get your feedback as well as speak to you about who is good locally to service your car.

Thanks for everyone's time

Dan

Welcome - Ignore any shots they take at the M3. They like making fun of German cars here, but you're very welcome. There are a bunch of Ottawa guys here and they get together for coffee regularly. I think the new guy has to buy the coffee though.

What kind of NSX are you looking for?

Hello - thanks for the response. I must say the 3.2 litre in the M3 is simply amazing - it pulls hard all the way to 7,900 rpm - I'd be curious to see how the NSX is - the engine sound I've heard is simply amazing.

I'm most interested in the second generation - 97 - 2001 and understand the engine and ongoing improvements make a difference. I am seriously considering purchasing in the states and bringing one back to Canada - principally due to the greater selection and pricing.

Do you know the local Ottawa NSX owners and what are their handles on the board ?

Thanks for your feedback.

Dan

Hey Dan,

I'm in Ottawa and I'm active both here and in the NSX community at large.

I run the Ottawa NSX mailing list, PM me your email and I'll get you on. We are semi-active, mostly in the summertime (obviously). A lot of us are members at the Tifosi Club and gather bi-weekly to watch F1 and attend their events and cruises. Like Sean said we meet for coffee monthly and mock Porsches (not German cars per se...I have owned an E46 M3 and a E60 M5 myself over the years and one of our members has a Alpina B7). That reminds me, what's the difference between a porcupine and a porsche? The porcupine has the pricks on the outside--har har). OK, I digress...

If you are hunting for an NSX, I know of possibly 1 or 2 in the region for sale, one of which the owner went all the way west to pick up and bring back and is pristine. It's an NA1 though, so you'll have to accept a purer driving experience. My own highly modified track NSX is possibly up for grabs, but only if I can find a 911 to modify for my new hobby of monster truck rallies.

Cheers,
John:cool:

Yay Germany!

You will find a few NSXs kicking around Ottawa. There is a small group there, but theyre a good group (a bit funny looking though) that will be helpful to you in your search.

Most ppl do import their NSXs because of the selection, but if you can find a really nice CDN car, you should do that. Finding it is the problem!

Enjoy the search but if you are going to be specific on color, year, etc.. Ive seen people look for years! My best advice is to pick (as you have) a generation (97-01) and have a few colors in mind and see what comes up. Good cars are never cheap either!

Thanks Guys - great to have such a warm introduction and feedback.

John I will pm you my e-mail address and would like to talk to you personally about the cars you've mentioned.

Got it.

Let the brainwashing begin.

Welcome...we are the new boys

As for the Pcar diss...Easy Boys...as another new member to the NSX community and current Porsche (Merc,BMW,Audi)owner it's easy to slag P/owners. (Don't want to open up the J car world for comparison)
Once I get a few NSX miles under my belt I may be tempted to throw myself under the bus...time will tell.

I am close to drinking the Kool-Aid......

Slag Pcars and their owners all you want but remember that:

1) I had an UNBELIEVABLE NSX, and
2) I sold it to buy my Turbo.

And despite my NSX having been highly modified (incl supercharged), my Pturbo has twice the HP, handles as well and so far has been cheaper to run than my NSX was.

It's not as pretty though.

You'll prob see it at Est Fest. I wonder if Cam and Sean will bring their Porsches too. Owen is next!!!!

Dave, there is no 'Kool-Aid"...just remembering your Drive.....it's that simple

Coming from a Pcar...you get it.

Welcome! I am a two-time M3 owner, and still love those cars. If you enjoyed the M3, you will also enjoy the NSX. They are both amazing vehicles to drive, and very capable.

Welcome to Prime Dan, there is a couple out there NSX
http://montreal.kijiji.ca ad one last week for $16899.00 personally not recommendation the car look like smash repair under-nit and missing some parts, the car was there for a couple of weeks, fire red like mine and stander, cant find id as we speak a small garage in Vile St-Laurent make your search may you get lucky

Common advise on NSX buying that holds true every time:

"The most expensive NSX you can buy, is the cheapest one you find."

Take your time and be picky. NSXs sell to a small market, but there are fewer good ones around. Do your research, so when you find one you know to jump on it before someone else snags it.

I've seen that car around a few times, a bunch of times in the same week a while back...it completely caught me off guard! It was really nice.

Anyway, welcome to the forum...I'm apart of the Ottawa bunch but also don't have an NSX just yet (soon!), you'll learn a lot from these guys..and probably a ton more if you actually get out with them... I should really get on that at least once this summer.

I couldn't agree more. I have been picky for the last 5 years or so.
