My first NSX "hater" experience

So on Monday I was driving near the Donmills and Steels area and pulled into the gas station at the North East corner. A couple of guys were sitting in a late model Camaro. The driver pulled his window down after I had finished fueling up and yelled out "how's you mid engine accord?" and both duche bags start laughing. I dropped the window and yelled out " you drive a pos domestic...you can dress up a pos but at the end of the day it's still the same pos that can only somewhat go in a straight line" and drove away. If you don't have anything nice to say just keep the comments to your self. I did regret responding to them though. Should have just ignored them.

Sounds like he spoke out of envy considering he knew the car was mid engine. Majority of people don't even know what a NSX is.

Great! How's your poor man's Corvette?

I never came across a hater yet after two years. If it ever happens Ill just say "ok have a nice day". I figure they hate because they are just jealous. Ill take it as a compliment. Also, have a good laugh about it later.

To the OP, that's quite the reply. I would have just flipped the bird and lolled.

That sucks- I thought most car enthusiasts were like me: I just appreciate a nice machine when I see one. Guess not.

Personally I have't run into any "haters" yet, but have met several "Is that a Corvette? people at various gas stations!

better then his rusting front engine cavalier.

you did nothing wrong sir.

Totally understand. It's happened to me a couple of times w/ P cars and Fezzas. Instead of responding with some snide remark I simply point at them and laugh uncontrollably.

They have no idea what to do at that point and just leave by peeling out. :)

"your mom seems to like it"

if they get mad and chase you, just take a turn and they will crash and die in a fire.

People are funny, I do get comments sometimes. The worst was actually one time while driving a friend's F430 minding my own business and not even speeding (at that time...) - I pull up to a light and a guy in a 90-ish tercel looks over at me and then rolls his window down and yells "hey - you're an idiot" - or something to that effect.

ummm... the "more then you can afford pal" was a joke. He referenced that quote from the Fast and Furious.

Mine is a 2003 model and after 8 years still more $$ than an 2011 Camaro...at least the model he was driving which was not an SS as far as I could tell. In 3 years, an 03 NSX will be worth more than double his Camaro...lol...in 3 years and 03
NSX will be worth more than an 2011 SS Camaro too.

Good thread as I can think about what to do if I meet a hater in the future.
Probably ignoring them is best.
Seventeen years of owning an NSX and only had thumbs up and maybe 2 invites to race.
Just remembered one person kept writing "I 'heart' balls" on my dusty NSX and the 850 windows. I think about Team America and just laugh.

Haha...when I first read Butter's post my first reaction was he should have said "well your girlfriend loves it"...funny a similar response.

Can I tell you guys a story? Ok here it goes and completely unrelated to the NSX but a worthy story.

Car in front of me at the lights (planning to turn left) proceeds to open the driver's door and drop a bag of Mc'D's. Me watching this is left just shaking my head and the light turns flashing green so we proceed. As we round the turn I pull to the side of the driver, its a woman, and I proceed to puff out my cheeks as to insinuate she was fat.

OH MY GOD DID SHE GO BALLISTIC! Chased me for a couple of blocks basically trying to kill me. It was the best! I was laughing the whole time.

People are just stupid.

I had my first hater encounter this week too. I was downtown TO on King Street after bar closing. I had the targa off and a buddy with me. Some douche, clearly outta jealousy yells "You think you're sooooo f****n cool eh?"...My buddy lost his shit and was gonna get out and drop this kid, but I held him back. Didn't want a boot to the side of my door.

One thing I will say though, the red NSX holds its own amongst the $100k Benzs and Rovers. People love that friggin car!

Agreed totally on last line of Jetpilot's post above!

Butter, I'm in the burbs of Detroit (I'll be at the festivities in London, Ont on 20 Aug so hope you can make it) and surprisingly in almost 2 years no one in the Motor City has had anything negative to say. Lots of hoons however like to get pretty close for a look and wanting to race (something I don't do) and then there was the turd in a Camry who tailgated me onto the ramp leading to I-696 (a nice tight one) who actually understeered right off the ramp while trying to keep up -- that was a very gratifying experience for me.

However, IMHO just best to ignore any stupid comments -- usually not worth dignifying the comment with a response. Take it for what is was -- immature and likely from an imbecile.

Best,
Jeff

Yeah dude, best to ignore the comments at that time. I saw someone get his head kicked into his white Lamborghini in front of Chevelle. Saw another nasty similar incident by Spice root. Don't think the later incidents were car related but people seem to love to throw it down more and more @ King St venues now too. Brant House is definitely full of duchy idiots now...even the "women" caliber has been on a steady decline there. Stick to places like Pravda Vodka Bar, 1812 @ Roy Thompson, Ultra is good on Saturdays and so is Brasaille. ...sorry got a little carried away...and yes I do club/bar hop from time to time. Usually once a month...a bit more in the summer.
