Mugen NSX RR

The reason I believe they killed the side vents is because the Super GT version doesn't have it. Possibly cause the motor is mounted transverse and it's getting the air from the snorkel for the engine just like the Super GT version.

If they ever produce this which IMO probably won't happen because who will buy it? The cost would have to be outrageous. Transmission alone would put this car price tag to another level! I just don't think people are willing to buy this car... especially in this economy. People barely bought the original NSX so I dunno. However, I like the way it looks and it really gives tribute to the class it used to dominate.

Mugen have always been know to produce high quality products and I feel they're pretty consistent from their civic stuff up to their S2000 stuff. I would love for them to produce at least a promotional version of this car so I can see how it does on the track.

Hey Brian, stop rewording my post from other thread:biggrin:

Mugen has a huge budget. Their F1 Engine won some races back in the days!!!

I love it!!! it looks awesome!!!

To me this makes sense. They just cancelled their latest super car/NSX replacement, the NSX 20th birthday is right around the corner, and if the news is right about the Spoon NSX-R they have white bodies laying around, then why not build it or have Mugen do it?

For what it is I think it is awesome, for years people have been trying to make a Super GT car and have been wide of the mark. Granted it has been extremely difficult since they stopped using road cars as the basis for SGT/JGTC. But now Mugen has finally thrown their hat back into the ring and struck gold.

If it is going to be longitudinally mounted engine I wonder if they took a page from the Ruf CTR3 and built a tube frame for the rear or for the front for that matter, considering how wide the track appears to be.

If Honda made this car instead of the mythical NSX-R GT(I know, supposedly Spoon has at least one...sure they do) for homologation, I think people would be singing a different tune.

Can't wait to see the finished product with a complete drivetrain. But if they do ever build it I think it will only be available in the home islands, and for a price similar to the Ruf CTR3.

EDIT: apparently it is 5 inches wider and 4 inches longer, but I'm not sure if the wheelbase has been stretch too.

The ITBs comments look to be right on

Love that interior, would love it more if it were black. The new gauges and steering wheel look great and as already mentioned that center console is stunning. Those don't look like NSX-R seats, very high thigh bolsters and no kevlar/carbon.

wow, that really should be the nsx's successor. it has a updated interior and from close examination, the engine really does seem to be longitudinally mounted.

I'm in tears, it is... Beautiful...

TAKE THAT to those who accused the engine was only photoshopped into the picture!!!

BANG!!!

This one is nothing but a "Super GT-look" for a street car. .

After seeing the pictures, I have no doubt Mugen is going to put it in production, or offer the package to existing owners.

The car even has an air bag.

yeap...it seems like the new CTR (hatchback) steering wheel... the cluster looks HOT also... i would love to see all the news this Mugen RR have in detail...that center console seems real Hot...

If Mugen opens some of this upgrades to Public aside from selling the complete car, i can't imagine the price tag... Mugen high price policy is well known... Honda OEM NSX-R parts price will seem cheap

I'm not sure anybody knows what will become of this, including M-TEC. I was at M-TEC last Tuesday and had a chance to look this car over thoroughly and, believe me, I did. It does have an engine in it and what appears to be an Xtrac transmission but I can't confirm that. I can tell you that it is in no condition to run. The Mugen reps are not interested in disclosing any information about this car except for this: "The NSX is just for style study model and we don't have any plan to sale the NSX or parts to the public."

Make of that what you will.

Don't want make this into an argument, but "I can't confirm that" and "Mugen reps are not interested in disclosing..." part of your post along will not support your theory of "It will not run." Unless the word came from Mugen them self, I don't believe your are correct. Mugen is not a style study company, they built performance parts.

Actually, I thought my post was clear in that the statement in quotations did in fact come from M-TEC representatives themselves. I am simply relaying the information that I was given. I have absolutely no interest in speculating. Like I said, make of it what you will.

There's no doubt on my mind they will take pieces from their concept vehicle and put it in production. No Japanese tuner company is going to unveil something they don't plan on producing. No one is in the business of making no money.

Its TAS and not SEMA. Most of the cars there are functional and aren't just mocked up for display purposes only. Mugen designs were intended for efficiency and functionality and not aesthetics. I agree with Vance, this car will not just run, but perform like a thoroughbred.

You concluded that after seeing pictures?

You’re either a psychic or just plain dim.

I posted my opinion based on a few pictures posted. It did not contain pictures of the engine, interior, or proof that it actually runs. I apologize if I base my opinions on more information than it takes you to put tears in your eyes and jizz on your seat.

And you want to bet your car too? You can keep it. I have my own.

As I have indicated in other threads, Mugen don't do design exercises, every thing they do eventually make its way to production. I have seen NSX parts that are not eve listed on their website.

If they made the mold for the panels, you will see them selling the parts.

not to bust your bubble Vance, Mugen is also had a few concept cars that looks very finished but never made it in production. Example, the hideous looking one seater S2k (porsche speedster looking), the V8 engine mugen RL (LEGEND)...

the center console looks like they just found a way to fit a updated Honda navi system in it. Not sure about the civic steering wheel, even though it's arguably the best looking steering wheel in Honda line up. They really should have fitting a rpm light aka, modulo civic, F430, M3 style...

You see, that's the mystery. Regarding the Legend V8, it wasn't realistic because Mugen is not in the business of building engines for production cars. The attraction of this package is, for those wide body guys, they can never say they have a true JGTC like NSX, and there are lots of wide body NSX owner out there will love to get their hands on this package. There is a market for this. Also, NSX parts from Mugen demands high price, and people are willing to flip that bill.

And the NSX is an icon, Legend is not.

I personally believe they will do some kind of production on something from this concept. I doubt they will make put the "RR" emblems on the car when their Civic RR is a top seller. They could have name it JGTC NSX or some thing like that.

As for the tranny, who knows, if it works in JGTC, maybe they'll figure some thing out:wink:

Kane,

Whats the chances of reproducing the steering wheel with cruise buttons and that superb centre console?

regards, Paul

I was thinking the same thing! But does it have to be a reproduction?

How can we get the original and will it fit??
