I made this list past summer to counter a friend's argument regarding MensFashions_101

________________________________________________________________

hmmm... What about the circa' mid 80's Miami_Vice look?

ie.
- linen pleated slacks, iron/press optional (cuffed for evenings)

- pastel hue T's, pref. lowcut & sleeveless (v-neck for evenings)

- white/cream/offwhite jackets, sleeves rolled of-course

- dock/boatdeck loafers, sueded or not but must be contrasting to the belt

- mousse & blown dry hair w/ a wind-tussled effect from your Testarossa (frosted highlights a given!) THINK Bouffant!?!

- 10kt gold herring-bone chain, medallion optional for situations warranting MediterreanSugarDaddie-look

- socks under no circumstance to be worn!

- Drakkar Noir, by Guy LaRoche < Paris >

- 2day beard_shadow (5o'clock shadow is too blase'!)

- 'lobster' tan (must resort to the antiquated tanning beds of a bygone era)

I am just asking for a 'friend', I mean I never ever do such faux pas!?!

:nervous, anxious, staring at his loafers- err' shoes!:
Hey man, I've been using Drakkar Noir for 19 years !!! P.S. I saw Colin Farrell in 2003 during a Tonight Show w/ Leno taping, and every other word out of his mouth was F$#@ ! Pretty funny watching it that night w/ all the beeps !!!

Do you watch Nash Bridges too? Every so often I catch an episode.

Not too often. There's not enough sexy women, drugs, or violence. Plus, since I live in South Florida I can pretend I'm Vice and put on my glasses and look cool.

Yeah but if you are like me the 5 o'clock shadow is now grey an the chin so some of the cool factor is lost there.

Was the white TR a replica also like the Daytona?
Actually the white TR was only real in still shots and casual takes. In chase scenes, they used a Pantera dressed in fake TR panels for all the stunt action. Was it a Pantera or something else, I forgot.

Ferrari North America (FNA) got a little miffed that the fakos were getting so much attention, so they decided to supply 2 'blk/tan '86 TRs to NBC studios. When they didn’t show up well in the night scenes, they were repainted white.
One was used for exterior shots of the car that was given away to a fan by the USA network and later ended up in the Swap Shop's auto museum in Florida.

Besides the two real cars, they used a replica for the stunts. This car was built by Roberts Motor Company, a company specialized in safety-oriented stunt cars for the movie industries. They bought a 1972 DeTomaso Pantera - a perfect car with 12000 miles on the odo and a value of $30,000 - and chopped it apart. The car was fitted with fiberglass panels made by Roberts (incl. a one-piece nose) and panels from a real but wrecked Testarossa. The chassis was modified and more important, the car was fitted with a 351cu Cleveland Ford engine, including a nitrous oxide system, producing 400 HP. In later episodes, they might have used a 420cu engine with nitrous, producing near 600 HP. As a "final touch" the car was also fitted with a second brake pedal, for only the rear brakes.

Just from what I have seen of the trailer (it still hasn't finished loading) it sure doesn't look very much like miami vice. They should have just used Don Johnson still. I think this movie is going to suck.

scale down...

I found a white 512TR Miami Vice Edition model today at a hobby shop, lol... (yes, I know Miami Vice didn't use a 512TR...)

And the luck continued... I was getting some grooming supplies at Target. While checking-out, I found a diecast HSC hotwheels that must've been tossed to the side (between the Hershey's w/ almonds & strawberry bubbalicious). . .

redheads, go figure...

I'm not the most well-versed of the Scuderia nuts out there, but I believe that from '84-'90 the car was referred to as Testarossa (381bhp). From '91-'94, 512TR (421bhp) was used to reference it. Finally in '94-'95, the 512M (432bhp) was the designation.

Miami Vice ran from '84-'89... :frown:

Here's an odd fact... my friend from grad-school, his elder brother owned two Testarossa's over the years (yes, he's from Miami... ). One of them was a black one & he said there was near-zero demand for it when he acquired it. Ditto for when he sold it (eventually).

All it took for me to know it is going to suck is the name "Jamie Foxx." Collin Farrel as Crocket... He's not going to bring the right kind of attitude, but I can tolerate that. Jamie Foxx as Tubbs though? Come on Mr. Mann, put the crack pipe down and get some new blood on the set!

Remember how Tubbs would put on the Jamaican accent in some of the episodes? Can you picture how rediculus it would be for Foxx to even attempt to pull that off?

Agreed, he should have used Terrance Howard...(Hustle and Flow) He would have been dead on.

After watching the trailer, I don't think it's going to be as good as Starsky & Hutch. We'll just have to wait and see.

I wonder if they will have anyone from the original series do a cameo?

Exactly! With Terrance Howard I would at least rent it when it came out on video.

Tonight I heard "You belong to the city" by glen fry at....the hardware store,

I guess I really am getting old...:frown:

and DutchBlack...I too shed a tear for Switek:frown:

but... but...

those two idiots suck :(

i kept wanting him to get shot in Phonebooth just because he sucks so much. he's like 2 steps below the ultimate sucko, mr. Keanu Reeves himself.

damn, another 'classic' ruined by some idiot in holywood that has no idea how to pick a cast :frown:

Fitting music for the trailer because I've become so numb from all these dumba$$ TV show remakes. Please God, NO NO. It was painful enough the first time through.
