Just received my copy in the mail (about $50 from Exoticar Model Co, $70 from Amazon).

Great book -- must-have for the automotive/motorcar enthusiast.

=================

Thought the designer (Gordon Murray) original evaluation notes on the NSX were pretty interesting:

- Starting up is not an "event"
- Forward driving position feels great - A-pillar is an intrusion
- Interior too "moulded"
- Engine fantastic but no mechanical noise - very good "growl" on full throttle
- Instruments very clear - small dials too small.
- Rear vision not bad - tail feels too long for parking.
- Overall size of car is perfect - except tail length for parking.
- Grip very good.
- Steering wheel not good - steering feels direct around straight ahead position. - but far too low-geared for "hairpins"

Dead thread revival. Was thinking about buying this book for my brother who is a budding automobile enthusiast. IMHO, it's the best model specfic automobile book ever published. No joke. Outstanding content and even better photography.

Checked Amazon for availability and pricing and lo and behold...HOLY CRAP! Used copies go for $375 to $888 bones!:eek: Fairly certain I paid $80 for my copy several years ago!

Suffice to say, I think I'll just buy my bro a model instead. ;)

You can still get this book if you order direct from McLaren Automotive. My copy was purchased this way last Christmas. It's around 70 pounds or so. Plus it's kind of cool that you become a McLaren customer, even if it's in this small way. :)

Thanks for the linkage! I'm IMing wifey the order form for the Le Mans edition in case she ever thinks I'm worth it. :wink:
