I used to do total loss insurance and the cars I would see come across my desk were WOW! unbelievable. People do crap like that all the time. One that really stuck out in my head was an early 90's vette that was just in crap condition (interior and exterior). A "thief" broke into his garage and scratched every panel on the car and sliced up the airbags. Sure. The kicker was he had one of those monster Snap On tool chests right next to the car, but the "thief" just broke in to scratch every panel and slice the airbags and not touch his 10K worth of tools. Didn't touch anything else in the garage, didn't take anything out of the car.
I think once he got his payment we were nice enough to follow up with a cancellation notice as well.
