I have this loud metallic creaking noise coming from area behind the driver seat and the B pillar. It is from the upper part of these areas. It make that noise when I go throgh some bumps or rough pavement.

At first I thought it was from the hood rod that rattles, but I secured that and the noise is still there.

It is really bothersome to have that noise. It makes the car sounds cheap. Your advice will be appreciated.

Remove the back covers and lower interior panel so you can remove the plastic garnish on the inside of the b-pillar and have a look:). Page 20-37 of the on-line service manual.

thanks. I'll check it out. I just hope it is not the body frame and the rear fender that is making the noise.

There are a lot of creaking threads out there for targas, but not too many for the non-targas.

I've had a creaking noise that sounded like it was coming from the passenger side at the B-pillar for the last 4 years. It really drove me nuts since that is the only interior noise this car makes. I tried spraying everything in there with silicone (what a mess), taking off the rear hatch glass to see if that was the culprit, and removing the B-pillar exterior cover and "coaxing" the panels to no avail. I even have a stethoscope to try and track these things down....

Last week I finally noticed that the black engine compartment vent garnish was rubbing on the trunk lip. I sanded and then polished the plastic trim and the noise went away

I believe there was a TSB to address an issue like this (MY '95-96?). IIRC, it requires removing the B-pillar cover and hammering out some metal that makes contact.

Here's that TSB: http://www.nsxprime.com/wiki/TSB_98-018

My '91 sometimes creaks from that area as well. I've been meaning to try out the procedure in the TSB to see if that helps, but if Mac Attack's solution does the trick, that would be much easier.

Mine does this just a little bit when I'm crab walking up a drive way and the car is tweaked... This was after I put on the anti-sways so I think its putting more stress on the car.....hmmm

One other thing I've noticed for creaking in the b-pillar area is at the base of the rear hatch struts. If you remove the two bolts for each strut base, you may find that the strut itself has dug into the aluminum underneath. I ground away some of the strut to gain a little clearance.
