I'm looking to buy a used M3 sedan as my new daily driver , perhaps a '97-98. Is anyone here a previous or current owner? I'm looking for advise for things to look for, any big reliability problems, etc.

do the faq search regarding bmw m3 issues with engine--this is on new engine only, i think.
i too was recently considering late model bmw m3 convertibles.
as i recall there were some issues with newest engine having problems that bmw was NOT standing behind.
Overall great cars which im still considering....

LOL... with the topic mentioning an 'M3' i thought you meant a Benelli M3 Super 90 as pictured here...

We have an 01 (e46) now that I love.
I have owned a 95 and a 90 (the original M3) in the past. They were all cars that I loved and would gladly own again. Of the e36 cars (95-99) the 95's are a little easier to mod (obd1 vs obd2) so they tend to be more popular in the track crowd. I think a guy here at the Tirerack may have one he was going to sell that is really nice. When I get a sec I'll go ask him
