Ah, don't worry about it. BMWs are nice cars, but my experience with any German made car (be it a Bimer, Audi, Benz, Porsche, whatever) is that they tend to spend more time in the shop for stupid little things that should never have gone wrong in the first place.
Japanese cars are about the finest made and best executed builds available on the market. German design and engine design is certainly awesome, but they just can't seem to build the entire car with the same quality. It seems they all get annoying rattles after about a year or two of driving them (not to mention stupid little engine parts that break for no reason).
I owned an S2000 for 3 1/2 years before getting my '03 NSX and not a single trip to the shop, nor a single rattle or creak. As a daily driver and with suspension that tight... truely amazing. Ditto so far with my NSX.
My wife's Audi TT.... well, that's a sad story I'd rather not subject you to.
I'll stick to my Japanese sports cars. I love 'em!
