Hi Guys,

I have a k40 radar detector installed in my 95 nsx and it seems to be giving me some problems. There is a chirping sound that occurs every 8 seconds and won't stop. I have called product support and they have told me that the detector in my front bumper is malfunctioning. Has anyone had this problem before and if so, what can I do to fix it?

Thanks

They just told you it's "malfunctioning"? They didn't tell you to replace the front detector or some other specific course of action? That's odd.

Do you know whether they can do any repair work on units brought to their facilities? I ask because they're located in Elgin, only an hour from the Loop.

Mine did that when the rear "sensor" went bad. I replaced it with a new one and the problem was gone.

This happened to mine. My sensor is mounted right under the front bumper inside the open grill. This symtom would indicate that the sensor has come unplugged, just follow the wire were your sensor is mounted & make sure it's plugged properly. Just tape the male & female together w/ electircal to keep it from coming undone. Hope this works for you.

Thanks for you help guys. I will go ahead and check the wiring and if that doesnt do the trick, i will call support again and see if I can bring out to Elgin to get it looked at. Thanks again guys.

I say you pull the thing out and get a V1. Another NSXPrime member got his NSX with a K-40 installed by the previous owner. After we hardwired the V1, he used both side by side for a while. His results: the V1 gave at least a 5 second warning before the K40 even picked up a signal.

I concur. I have a K-40 (installed by previous owner) and it's not near as effective as my friend's Valentine 1.

However, I really do love the custom "stealth" install of the K-40. If the Valentine ever came out in such a configuration, I would jump on it in a heartbeat.
