Good news. I finally got them installed and the car feels lower and more stable. Stiffer as well cuz I believe my stock shocks were worn out.

Anyways, I;'ve got a couple of questions. The wheel spacers change the turn radius right?
I've notice that I have to turn the steering wheel a bit more to get the same response as before. I got the 25mm spacers on front and rear.

Also, everything was ok except for the left rear strut. when i was driving it, whenever i went over a pothole I would hear something jiggle.
whenever i went over a bump at moderate to high speeds, I heard a thud but i didn't hear that on the other three wheels.

I opened up the engine cover and saw something missing. you know the part where the struts sort of connect to the body? there is something that looks like a rod or bolt. it comes up through something that looks like a shallow "bowl". there is some piece that goes in that bowl looking container. i can't really explain it too well.

from the looks of it, i would think it keeps the strut from moving down. that would explain the jiggle over potholes.

i explained this to the guy who installed it and he was gonna fix it. i can't believe the part was left out.

if anyone knows what i'm taking about, can you confirm that the missing piece could causing the jiggles and noise i'm experiencing?

thanks.

Check your sway bar.....this will cause sounds when its not tighten properly

are the sway bar disconnected while installing the shocks? anyways, the jiggle i heard sounded like the springs moving.

almost as if the perch was falling below the length of the spring and the spring moves since it's not supported for that split second.

Springs should have compression all the time even if its a low spring....it might twist as its compressing and untwisting and re-seating itself....but most of the time it only happens for a bit then goes away.....there is a bolt that connects to the shockand swaybars....make sure that is tight....let me know if that was the problem....

jbum,

i love to see your car. please let me know if i can come over to take a look. i'm also located in sunnyvale.....

i'm also considering the hub adapters. are your wheels flush with the side fenders now? (OEM wheels i assume)

I found the name for it :)

I looked it up in the manual... it's called the damper mounting rubber.

Here is a picture as well.

The first picture is of the right rear one which seems to be correct.

Here is the second picture - incorrect install.

Here is the second one of the left rear which is missing the damper rubber.

Yeah that would do it....the shocks are not pulling when the car goes up....neither is it pushing down either......who did this...??

Jbum,

Who did the install for you?...... a shop?

Pick that thing up and take it back to the shop where you had it installed and ask them politely to do it right!

Wow!

Edit: looks like you may have lost the top washer :(

frustrated!

ok... i would really love to tell you the shop i got this done in but i'd rather not on the chance that this was an honest mistake. not to say they did it intentionally but you know what i mean.

they've done other kinds of work on my other car but i don't know...

i think all i need is the damper mount washer and i'll install that myself. i trust myself more right now than having him do it again.

then i will slowly drive over to a more reputable shop for this... have the work checked out. the other three corner feel solid so i really really hope this was a rare mistake.

even though he has offered to do the work over, i really do not trust it right now... can you blame me?

what is a reasonable compromise here? can i ask for some money back so i can get the work checked out somewhere else?

now i'm paranoid and wondering if any other part is missing or incorrectly installed.

suggestions are very welcome right now.
thanks.

hey john,

one of best certified nsx techs in the south bay community is gary vosner at los gatos acura.

he's a supervisor now that overlooks his mechanics and he has trained two guys there to work on the nsx....they are quite good. there are other members in the south bay that ONLY takes their NSXs there for service. i believe gary is there full time monday through friday and possible saturday as well.

he'll go the extra mile to make sure everything is perfect before your car leaves the shop.

dude, same thing happened to me

take one of the stock rubber gap filler/bushing thing and put it on the bilstein

for someone reason mine was missing one too..

IM me on AIM my sn is Romir0 (last o is a zero)

let me know asap, would like to help, thanks

i can see how that missing piece helps to pull the shock up when the car goes up.... but does it help to push it down?

i can't tell that it does. anyways, would it be bad for the car to drive it like that. i'm not gonna go for any joy rides... just a ride to the dealer :)
