June 21 drive
Hello, we are planning a drive on Saturday, June 21. Here's the agenda:
1. meet in the morning after breakfast
2. drive to destination for lunch
3. return to Phoenix for dinner
People are free to stay overnight should they choose not to drive back with the group.
Here are some ideas for a more organized drive, based on past experience:
Communication
Please see below.
Caravan speed
The Group Speed shall be the lowest maximum speed at which any member of the group feels comfortable driving.
Driving rules
If you are leaving the group for any reason, clearly communicate your intentions to the entire group, then fall back behind everyone prior to turning off, to avoid confusion.
Leave sufficient gaps between vehicles to allow for road debris, rocks, etc.
If a car is left behind (due to traffic lights, etc.), the leading cars are to pull over and wait for the stragglers to catch up.
If a car breaks down for any reason, at least one other vehicle should stay with that car until assistance arrives.
If someone wants to stop for a photo/rest break, the entire group should be alerted so that everyone can stop at the next available safe spot.
Other tips
Bring plenty of sunblock, water, film, asprin, batteries, etc.
Please sign up (see my posts below), and submit other suggestions/ideas. Thanks! This will be an awesome event!
