Jinks engine build thread

OK, bit of a downer. Little bit of a set back. Hang in there. Think of when you get her back, are you going to take a week off and driver her back? Lot's of NSX brethren along the way to put you up, see the car, buy you a beer. I see an awesome road trip in your near future!

Yeah nsxpo is around the corner [emoji850]

I know, it sucks. Parts are scarce for the car and we all know Shad. 1 man shop. I’m optimistic though and I am being more than patient. He did give me a aftercooler at quite a deal though. So, being patient might pay off.
I just wish none of you guys blow an engine. It is ROUGH!

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

In for more pics. The valve covers look awesome.

In for more pics posted sideways. I dunno why but they only post sideways on this site. New clutch is in and the motor is back into the sub assembly. He did a great job cleaning everything up.

Nice. Let us know how you like the Exedy clutch.

I had to cringe on that first picture though with the steel chain in contact with the precision-machined aluminum VTEC spool valve flange on the rear bank. Look at all the nicks in the water pipe flange in the first picture too. Why test the gaskets like that?

I think those were there before hand but good eye. How are you liking the Exedy?

Before the weather turned crappy (I live in PA), I was able to put about 300 miles on it before it got too cold and my summer tires turned hard as a rock. Love it so far. It may not be the lowest moment of inertia clutch, but it's VERY streetable and can handle the 500 WHP I'll eventually put through it. Exedy is an OEM supplier. They know what they're doing.

Sorry to hear that Mac. This was my hellish commute down A1A this morning. But hey, at least you have a running Nsx.:triumphant::triumphant::victorious::victorious:

Cheer up, Jinks!,

It will be alright. We all wish the NSX was like a Civic in terms of parts pricing and availability, but it is a very rare car and parts availability is always an issue. Speaking from experience; every build has its set backs and headaches. If you've read my build thread, I've been more drama than the young and the restless! lol

When you get it back (and you will), it will be better than before and far more enjoyable. If it makes you feel better at all, I haven't had mine for about 4 years. When Gil had Ravi working on his, he didn't have it for 5 years!

Hang in there and do everything right the first time. You don't want to go for a second round! :)

LOL

Yeah we just got snow here so no more driving my NSX. Although I haven't found winter storage for it yet... I wonder if that will even be worth it since I can use that money for service. I never knew I could miss a car so much after my first winter.

More neck snapping sideways pics. Lol
