Jetpilot's Imola

Sultan Cameron....Haha

Theft - yeah it concerns me but there isn't a whole lot of it in Dubai. But being such a rare and stunning car I'm looking into it. Links anyone?

Yes, the car will go in next week for the 3M treatment as I understand the painting process this car underwent at the factory. It stuns me to think that a paint process can be so involved and layered the way it is.

This weekend we will take the car out to various local spots and snap some outdoor photos. If you know me most of my photos have been indoors due to lack of photography experience (I'm a point and shoot kinda guy...what can I say?) and time. But my fiance loves to take shots and now loves this car so we'll see what we can come up with.

As for mods...hmmm been down that road and don't know if I want to drive it again. No engine mods or interior mods (I don't know if I'll ever install my double din as it will require a new console and I only want one that matches the interior pieces as they are). Exhaust will be the next mod as its here but my adapters have not shown up yet.

Thanks again everyone for the props...just driving her today to work was a pleasure!

be creative, think the worst that could happen & work backwards to twart...

Hmmm... where do you think the few, but still sizable number of Ferraris, Rolls/Bentleys, Corvettes/Vipers, and other very high-profile exotic & sports/ultra-lux' vehicles come from that end up in the vast secluded estates of the feudal-landlords & tribal narco-traffic'ing over-lords/king-pins of Afghanistan/Pakistan, and their spoiled rougue'kin! ;)

Again, trust me on this... :)

True that. I have over insured this car in the market here for theft and unlike NA they don't go on blue book values etc. they go on your bill of sale. That's not enough so I've checked into Lo-jack but its not offered in the UAE.

The hunt continues...

some GPS-equpped device hard-wired. . .

Sheikh'Cameron, as ghetto/elementary as this sounds... get an extra GPS-enabled smart-phone/PDA/etc' that is hidden & hard-wired while perma-on, so to speak. Battery draw will be negligible, or add a $10 floating-charger for extended non-driving periods.

Just a simple concept, that can be honed-in on & refined w/ proper equipment, creativity, and some geek'input...

I'm sure some security/I.T. firm can create some solution & working-setup for you, and cost would basically be negligible in the long-run. Some device you stealthly place in the vehicle, and can monitor it from your cell/mobile or desktop/notebook. Such setups exist in the 'States, basically to monitor the movement/travel-history of a vehicle.

Seeing how endeavorous this whole of experience of seeking/acquiring/shipping/receiving has been, we all want to make nothing ever goes wrong!

Glad to hear the car finally landed in your part of the world!

Do NOT raise the car - your car sits at about the same stance as mine and it's perfect man, most NSX's I've seen that are lowered does not maintain the right drop as the rear is always too high or the front has that lifted look.

The matte black wheels look killer but unfortunately you really lose the "lines" of the wheel on camera. I'm sure it looks better in person. This is why I chose a polished lip to give it some brightness to the matte black.

That front plate really kills the sleek lines of the car, do you have to run that? thank god we don't need them here.

What's next? :)

If I had to be this careful about owning anything, I wouldn't own it. It sucks all the fun out of actually being able to enjoy the car.

What's next? :)

I'm having a friend digitally scan my license plate so that I can turn it into a sticker and stick it onto the side of the front bumper (left hand side). There is a McLaren SLR parked next to me in the building and the owner had this done. Looks just like the license plate mounted. Unfortunately, as we have forward facing radar cameras everyone is required to rock the front license plate...

Next up is my Taitec GT lightweight and possibly my Double Din headunit...still humming and hawing on that one because I want my center console color to be the same as stock. SOS can't paint it so I'll have to take a stab and try a local car audio plate here.

set for take-off...

O.k., I'm not the most knowledgeable or tech' savvy, but couldn't you use some spectral-blocking/non-photographic/reflective/radar-absorbing/buffering material to make the front-overlay plate? Or, even like those color-blindness assessment charts/slides. Perhaps texture/facets, as well!

Not that I'm suggesting you break the law (ala' Sammy Hagar's "Can't drive 55"... :D), but merely out of curiosity. . .

Contact this NSX Prime vendor: HighlineCA (www.highlinecaraudio.com), reference thread/topic: GB: HCA reworked radio bezel!

I'm quite confident that if anyone can do a professional, near-match re-finishing of the OEM center-console (as well as converting it to double DIN), it would be them! Look into it, man...

I am not normally an Imola Orange fan (tend to think it is too gold) but with your wheel-choice and color, that is one of the best looking NSX's I have seen. Nice work!

How is the front plate currently mounted? It doesn't look like the OEM mount. You didn't want to get the SOS stealth bracket?

Haha...funny you should mention that!

I was so desperate to drive her without hassle from the police that I zip tied the plate on. At our car meet last night one other NSX owner who bought the SOS license plate bracket didn't want it and sold me it. I'll install it today...

I'll post more pictures tomorrow when I have my camera cord with me.

More photos...still haven't had a chance to take some nice sunny day shots. Will attempt to this upcoming weekend.

I'm glad your wait is finally over. You did very well on wheel choice. I have to agree with others here. The height is perfect but I'm sure you have your reasons for raising it. Nonetheless the car looks fantastic.
