Does anyone have Japanese short gears in a 6 speed NSX? 760NSX's second gear doesn't work due damage caused by the failure of his old clutch so he's thinking about putting short gears in. His other option is to just get a new OEM second gear installed. I know there is a superchagered 2000 NSX with short gears here in San Diego, but does anyone know if this is a good idea to do. Most websites only talk about the short gears for the 5 speed NSX's not 6 speed. How does this change the gearing in the 6 speed? If you have it installed or know someone who does on a six speed...advice or feedback would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

Just what he said lol.

I just got the RPS installed BTW kicks ass very easy to drive. Anyway I talked to 2 master Techs that work on NSX's about my 2nd gear they said ill need a new one due to when I drive IF i get into 2nd it grinds a bit. BUT chris as SOS told me that its not my 2nd gear that my clutch needs to be adjusted. The car goes into 2nd smooth when off or at a stop but when driving it would grind a bit. So I got 2 options new 2nd gear or short gears which I did some search looks like a bad idea or get my checked again to adjust my clutch. Then again Art drove this 99 nsx with a S/C and short gears said it kicks ass. So input and help be great

Thanks for the link Brian. I guess the 2nd gear is the same as the short gear set and sounds like the 6 speed has "better" gearing than the short gear set. Sounds like just the 2nd gear should be replaced...assuming that is really the problem. I'm sure Jerry will figure it out
