Registration is now open for a May 27th NSX track day at Thunderhill with Northern California Racing Club. See details here:

http://www.ncracing.org/th050527.html

You still need to be an NCRC member to participate; but NCRC will waive the $40 membership fee for all those who are NSXCA members in good standing. When you fill out the form, identify your NSXCA membership number and skip the $40 payment. NCRC will verify your membership standing with us.

Since NCRC is hosting this event for us, they will hold about 20 openings for the next two weeks or so to allow you to secure a slot with early bird registration. Thunderhill fills up quickly with NCRC so do not procrastinate if you need a pep talk or waiting to see who else signs on. Do it on this thread and you will be persuaded quickly ....

Both in-car and classroom instruction will be offered, and we will have a few NSX instructors on hand as well

We will have a designated area in the paddock for all the NSXs. In previous years, we have has at least 35 NSXs and as much as 42NSXs show up. This is a great opportunity to come and see the various mods, looks, and talents on display, bring friends along as well and we will gladly give them rides on the track, there is no fee to be an observer ......

Edit: Clarification regarding NCRC membership/fee

Very cool - just signed up via the webpage and paid via paypal. This will be my first track event, looking forward to it! I checked the request instruction box on the registration form btw. I didn't see anywhere on the form that asked for the type of car, but I assume all of that stuff will get sorted out at the event? Thanks for doing this!

Anyone interested in a two day? There is a NASA event the day before, May 26th, think I will come down for both days and make the trip worthwhile!

See you there!

Another option is to make a 3 day event of this. TrackMasters racing has a HPDE at Fernley, Reno on May 28/29. Registration is not open yet; for details see here: http://www.trackmasters-racing.com/index.html

It's my understanding the track has been further improved since last year (especially the run off and some other track amenities). And I hear it is a high HP friendly track

Folks, if you are not subscribed to the NSXCA lists, you are missing a great deal of entertainment on this track event

To show our appreciation for all the enthusiasm and on-going smack talk on the lists, for those of you who have the kahunas to show up at the May 27th NSX track event at Thunderhill showing your true colors, we have intorduced our own unique and artistic logo rendition of a premium line of apparel of an NSX driver attempting to figure out which way to go!

Is it possible that I can go and watch? I have been to motorcycle races, but I have never been to a track day with cars. I would be interested in checking out everyone's NSX and how one participate in these events.

Is there a fee for being a watcher?

thanks in advance,

There is absolutely no fee. All you have to do is sign two waivers: 0ne when you enter the track, and the other to receive a non-driver specific wrist band which allows you to get on the track after signing NCRC's waiver.

So come on up and bring a friend too. We may even give you free rides on the track. The club has an extra helmet that we can loan - that is if you have shampooed your hair first

Awesome...I'm going to put this event in my calender.

Just a reminder that the spots will fill up soon. Don't forget the early bird registration where you can save $35 and also secure a spot. Note, the registration for the early bird saving must be received before May 7, but don't wait till then, they will fill the spots as this is the time of the year when the weather will be great and many will come out of hybernation.

Folks, after all the smack talk on the lists, you will be missing a great entertaining show if you do not attend. Trust me, a lot of boy racer egos are at stake.

There is even talk of doing something special on the track just for us NSXers. We can offer an extra 1/2 hr of hot track time in the day, that we could use for an NSX Time Trial, or Relay Race, or something else we might come up with. The relay race is very safe and hilariously funny seeing how the runners can win or lose your race .....

Also, based on the number of attendees, we might be able to pull some raffle items from sponsors; we might even have our regular social dinner the night before. Those of you who have been/attended to our events please pitch in as how fun this can be; we even celebrated Birthdays ..........

Edit: First para .....

See you there Hrant, just signed up! Should be good fun to see all the NSX's there, on my second day, after I have a day to learn the track during the NASA event on the 26th.

Thanks for the work on putting this together

Ahhhh, you want to practice first heh ............. remember, we are running the off camber fast bypass at turn 5, so all that adrenaline rush going over 5 will give you no advantage ...... but then, few have run the bypass. This will separate the boys from the toddlers ........ LOL!

Glad to see you come. Bring a few more NSXers from your area, we will try to make it special for your group. Perhaps we can run the relay race on groups based on location ............

Hey everyone, if you've never been to the track in your NSX, this is a good opportunity to be amongst other NSX owners that enjoy using their NSX for what it was designed for. I started going to the track when I first got my NSX and its been tons of fun ever since my first time. The wing and any other stuff is optional. ;) Stock NSX is totally fine... you'll have a blast.

Be forwarned that this sport is addicting. :)

Never driven the track before so it will all be new and nothing but adrenaline rushes!

Anyone else from the Washington/Oregon area interested?

So far, we have 14 NSXs registered. I posted the names on the e-mail group lists.

I have received a few inquiries from sponsors who would be interested in donating raffle and/or promotional items, but they would like to see more numbers than 14. So how about it .......... if you are still on the sidelines, please do realize that since we are trying to make this an NSX track event, unless we fill the spots first, the regular NCRC members will do before the May 7 early bird deadline.

Edit: We are now at 18 tracking NSXs, plus 1 "visiting" NSX and another "trying to visit" .....

So far we have six NSX owners/instructors, and at least two NSX drivers who should be instructors but prefer not to so they shoot the breeze while the rest of us run for potty break between sessions  So you will have a very good opportunity to drive with someone who knows the NSX handling or be passenger in an NSX that is being driven as it should be on the track

This would be a great opportunity to see all the mods, exhaust sounds at WOT, wheels, brakes in action, and of course all the go fast looking goodies that are more for show than speed

I highly encourage everyone to attend a track-day at least once in their ownership. Its a safe way to learn the limits of your car, and be among like minded car-fans.

I edited the numbers of attendees in the previous post.

Those who are planning to come as visitors, please post here on PM me so I can add you to the count - for purposes of showing numbers to the sponsors.

We are closing in on 20 NSXs on the track with the possibility of witnessing a 539 RWHP cracking into low 1:50s ......

We need to hit at least 30 on the track to make a statement. Just a reminder, you must register before May 7 to secure your early bird regisrtration - assuming it has not already filled up (they won't run more than 60 -70 cars).

So far, at least another 4 spectators are planning to be there.

For the most part running the bypass should shave 2 seconds off the laptimes at most, we already know who is going to have the fastest laptime for the day (hint, he drives a red NSX with a license plate to keep his significant other happy :D)

Ken, I have a dollar that says if the 539 RWHP shows up, the "I love my wife" license plate will be at Comptech the next day with his checkbook wide open

And for the rest of you who have not seen the DAVEK 928 S4, its a dedicated stripped track car that is fast ...... so kudos to Ken for hanging out with DAVEK and passing him. As Ken's driving afrer passing DAVEK ...... well, let's just say that next time Ken will drive with his rear view mirrors removed

Hrant,

FYI, Dennis (the guy with the 928S4) just let me by for a lap :). There is no way that I can pass him if he was gunnig for it, he was in the 2:06's at Thill that day. My excuse is that I was running street tires so I was only able to get into the 2:10's :p I passed him the 2nd time around because his tranny broke :( (you can actually hear it on the video)

BTW: The Red SCed NSX that blew by the 928S4 was probably under 2 minutes that day

Ken
