Is supercharger "growl" normal?

I drove a 1992 NSX with a Comptech supercharger this weekend.
At idle there is a low "rumble" or "growl" which appears to be coming from the supercharger. It sounds Ok above idle. Is this normal?

Yes it is.

There is some gear clatter at idle.
