2 weeks ago I bought a pair of ear bud headphones for $60 to use at my desk here at work. I left them plugged into my computer last night. I come to work today and they are gone! I'm guessing it was the night cleaning crew, but obviously I don't have proof. We have had problems with them in the past, which makes me feel even dumber for leaving them out. I'm just so mad right now! Why do people have to steal just because they can? Get a freaking job and buy it yourself! Thanks for letting me vent.

Sorry to hear about that. But you know what really get me heated.... its when our cleaning crew use my office telephone after hours to call long distance to another country and talk for hours!!! I've even tried locking up my handset before i leave, but they just get another from the desk outside and plug it in my phone. Guess they need privacy???

I used to install hidden cams for a company so that they could watch there employees. You can easily install a nanny cam in your office and watch over your space.

I'd love to get even. I found out that the cleaning people have been bringing their 2 sons in with them. Ages between 16-19. Our office building is 5 floors. Our office has the entire 5th floor. When you get off of the elevator, it's all just us. The only way to get the elevator to go to the 5th floor is with a key. So the only people that have access to our floor are us (the employees) and the cleaning people at night. There is no way that anybody else could have come in. You can't even take the stairs to our floor.

I know it was them, but like I said before...I don't have physical proof. I guess a nanny cam would give me that proof. I should install one over my desk. I would love to see what's going on after hours. But then again, they'd probably steal that too....

That sucks, I'm sorry to hear that. No one likes a theif

Someone tried to steal my old Webber grill the other day. I found it next to my apartment with the legs fallen off. The must have tried to carry it and the legs fell off (). Sure it's a piece of crap and not worth much, but it's the fact I'd have to go buy a new one because someone couldn't do it themselves.

Anyway, back to the headphones. I'd recommend these Sony ones. They are great for working out, give good sound, and are very cheap.

Leave the box for the headphones on the toilet after you leave the toilet like this...

HAHA! Now that's funny! I'd love to do that! I think I'll forward the pic to the management of the building with a message like, "This is what will happen on a daily basis until I get my property back." I don't know if that will work though. I'm not sure my colon could keep up with that threat.

STEVENY, that pic is NASTY! I regret scrolling down! OMG, that's just unethical.

WHITE92, how did your building pass the inspection? That's what I want to know. Is the elevator the only way of leaving that floor? If that's the case, hope that there's no emergency where people are running towards the elevator.

As far as getting even with your night crew. The only thing that I can think of is either getting a video cam, or making them work harder by leaving a mess in your area.

If it was up to me, I'll be thinking of a strategical plan that will teach them a lesson. Haha, just like StevyNy stated..

No, we can still get down if there is an emergency. Anyone can take the elevator down. Or go down the stairs, but the only way to go up in the elevator and reach the 5th floor is to bybass it with a key. If you get in the elevator and press "5", nothing will happen unless you've used your key. If you go to the stairwell and try to go up to the 5ht floor, it's locked from the inside. Does this make sense? Maybe you'd have to physically see how it's laid out.

I can't really leave my desk messy. We are kind of a "paperless" environment. It's basically just a desk with a computer on it. Even if I did leave it messy, they wouldn't clean it up. They don't do anything but empty the trash. They don't do windows or anything. They won't even clean the breakroom. We have to take turns doing it every Friday afternoon. All of the other businesses in the building have problems with them not doing anything too, but they refuse to do anything about it. I can only imagine what they are doing in the 3 different dental offices in the building.

Many businesses subcontract out the housekeeping services. If that's the case in your workplace, you should report the theft to the contracting business and to the subcontractor. It won't get your headphones back, however, it will put the theft on record which may prove useful when you finally nail the bastards on your webcam.

We have reported it to the managers of the building. The manager is meeting with my manager this afternoon regarding this theft and a few other fishy things going on, mainly the regular cleaning couple bringing other family memebers or whoever with them to "help."

Sounds like double top secret clearance with a twist of lime.

steve, did you flush that realtor......

She pulled through at the last minute. Someone came and fell in love with the place. The buyer is pre-approved funds in place ready to close. I think it may have been the free pair of headphones I threw in with the deal!

LOL!
Now you walk in the bathroom, open the stall see that and think "quick get the camera" and take a picture?
I bet you have a bigger collection than just ONE photo of this one toilet.
Am I right?

I found the picture on yahoo.
I was trying to think of a way Craig could say to the thief "I know who you are and I know what you did." I think this would be a very nasty way to pay the thief back.

I have had items stolen from me in the past. Very little pisses me off more than a thief. I had one of my tenants steal my $250.00 sunglasses. I left the glasses on her kitchen counter while I ran out to get a part to repair her hot water. I asked her where they went. She acted like she never saw them so I didn't make a big deal out of it, but I knew she stole them. The next day her boyfriend was wearing them. The following Saturday all 3 loads of her laundry mysteriously had 1 gallon of bleach added to each load. I left the case for my sunglasses in her laundry basket. Things that make you go Hmmmm.

Come running to me asking why I ruined your laundry is the same as screaming I stole your sunglasses.

Im sure the cleaning crew dosent carry a ladder with them. A overhead cam would be pretty hard to steal in that case. I have another suggestion thou ....maybe just posting signs around the office and building saying premises monitored by hidden cameras for security reward for any information leading to the arrest of any individuals responsible for thefts.

LOL, Craig, this is a great plan.... i really think you should do it. :D I'd hate to think what you'd need to eat the night before to generate the power needed to create "spatter damage" like this. :D

Thanks <B>steveny</B>... you just found <B>donwon</B>'s next avatar! :p

Steve, you're killing me! haha I go home for the evening and come back to all of your posts! I don't know where to start replying! I did email that picture to my manager with this message,
"Dear janitors,
You will have this to look forward to on a nightly basis until my stolen property is returned to me."

I was hoping he would forward it to the building managers, but he won't. Maybe I'll go to Kinkos and have a nice little poster made up like that. Then I'll hang it on the janitor supply closet door.

Like Neo was saying, I'd hate to think what I would have to eat to back up this threat. There are a few places around here that I could eat at though. haha
