I just bought a Carrera GT!

Way to go Carguy!

I have not had the chance to see the Carrera GT in person but it has to be amazing. Hope it arrives in a timely manner, patience was never one of my strong points  .

Haven't you seen "The Matrix"?

Yes, but I'm not following.

Morpheus (sp?) offers Neos a blue pill in one hand, red in the other...

One would send Neos home one sends him into the matrix, or something like that.

those wheel nuts will fit on one side only. Porsche made them different colors so that you dont forget where which nut goes.

Hmmmm.....you would think that factory-trained technicians can tell the difference between rght-hand (standard pitch) threads and left-hand (reverse pitch) threads.

John,

I'm drooling. I REALLY want to see the car! Maybe a get together this summer, All of the locals including the Toronto guys! Tim

Wow. Just - wow.

Can you tell us more about the experience leading up to the purchase?
I'm just curious how one goes about this.
Do you just call up your local Porsche dealer and ask them to order you one, or do you have to do the inventory research yourself and find a dealer that has one?

Anyway, I don't care if you get tired of hearing it or not, but once again - Congratulations and enjoy!

well i were to be working on a car like the Carrera GT i would be distracted by the car itself and wouldnt care about lug-nuts. Anyways i read some where that the lug-nuts has a proprietary feature that tightens itself as the wheel spins.

Congrats on the CGT! I'm sure it will be simply awesome! I am going to try to get a get together of the local NSX guys in Michigan this summer and I thing you should bring the CGT and it would be the life of the party! Well I now know if I see a CGT around in silver, I'll know who it is. Man I would love to see that car in person and don't even think about getting a F1, b/c I'll become a stalker. J/K...............

Congrats again on the new GT!

I believe the Red for the left and Blue for the right is an idea they are using which is used in F1 racing, and other racing series which have directional wheel and tire designs...

This is taken from Porsches' website:

The wheels are mounted using a center-lock system with a single multi-point nut. This race-derived solution is combined with a high-strength hub and large-format bearings to achieve a more accurate wheel location

As on a racing car, the left-hand wheel nuts have a right-hand thread, while those on the right have a left-hand thread. This simple solution ensures that the thread on each nut runs contrary to the primary direction of travel on all four wheels. As a result, the rotation of each wheel tends to tighten the nut, rather than working it loose. For added security, each of the four nuts has a specially developed retention system. Grip is supplied in the form of high-speed Michelin tires with an extremely generous rolling circumference. Compound and tread are specially designed to ensure shorter braking distances and consistent handling, particularly in wet conditions. The tire dimensions reflect the performance of the car, measuring 265/35 ZR 19 at the front and 335/30 ZR 20 at the rear.

I would love to see your reaction as they unload it from the delivery trailer. Seriously, you should have your wife or a friend standing by with a good camera at that time.

That wood shift knob seems out of place to me also, but who the heck cares!

Thats a great idea!

Hey Carguy, call me I have a brand new 3 chip camera that needs breaking in, and I can be there on short notice.

I have a couple of Friends that just bought a copper Merci roadster and a Gallardo, that want to see your car. He is thinking about getting one in all black. We should set up another meet like the last one........3 years ago.

I am not planning any trips this spring or summer (I have a car to pay for) so just let me know when and I will be there with the CGT.

Thanks everyone for all the congats! It is so nice being part of a great community like this!

which community? the "i hate you" community? :D

Mate, I hate hearing people bitch at people who own expensive cars just because they don't own one themselves. We should applaud people who are successful and are enjoying that success. (ok... except those guys on cannonball runs who treat their success like trash :p i dont respect them) If you have the money to buy a CarreraGT then good on you! But please don't drive past the "waiting in line for a ride in your GT" queue. :p :D

I take those posts as people just kidding, I don't take them seriously. Especially when they post a smiley face afterwards. If someone truly hated me because I own a Carrera GT then I would probably ignore their comment anyways.

Congrats, that is one hell of a machine! Might I be the first to request some NSX / CGT pics for my wallpaper? 1600x 1280? Pretty please?

Enjoy it & save me a spot on the garage floor. I'll bring the beer and brats!

Please include driver impressions, pedestrian stare stories and such. Can't wait for the pics.....................oh, and i hate you too :D
