I thought all japanese production car are suppose to be "limited" to 280hp... or have that changed?? Are they now openly claiming 400++ hp for their production cars? Just curious....

Yes, 280hp limit was removed about 3 months ago.

for example the new HONDA "RL" is the first over 280hp vehicle sold in Japan.

it was never a limitation. just a mere "gentleman's aggreement" on the published numbers: 276hp to be precise (not sure if DIN or SAE). The cars were allowed to be making more than that, but they were not supposed to publish the real numbers.

They also removed the "gentleman's aggreement", HONDA "LEGEND" or "RL" will be publish as 300hp in Japan.

ok. let's just say that a communication error on honda's part leads me to believe that we should hear more on the next "NSX" soon enough. (this post is not related to the power limitiations posts)
