I did a search and couldn't find any thread about removing the battery.
I would take it somewhere to change it but I tried to jump it but it wouldn't crank over after 15 min hooked up to my other car.

It's pretty self explanatory once you open the front hood. Remove spare tire, remove spare tire bracket(2-3 10mm bolts, can't remember for sure). Remove nuts on j-bolts, remove battery hold down bracket from top
corner of battery. Disconnect neg then pos battery cable. Lift out battery +\- battery box.

What he said works. To add to that. After you remove the spare tire, there is 1 bolt on the vertical brace and 4 bolts on the bottom. Once unscrewed you can pull the entire spare tire brace out of the trunk and have full access to the battery.

Get a free maintenance battery so you don't have to check the battery water level every now and then.

Optima gell cell (yellow top). Has been a good battery to me in several applications. But I still make sure to disconnect the negative cable when I store the car for prolonged periods of time.

As said above, once you remove the spare tire you can get to the battery no problem. Any basic tool set should suffice, and is really easy to do. May want to throw a fender cover over the front of your car to be safe to keep from scratching your paint when you're leaned over it pulling all the stuff out.

thanks for all the info. I called aaa and had them come jump start. the jumper battery pack the guy had holds more juice than my other car's battery which wasn't able to start up my nsx. I don't have access to a outlet so I can't put it on trickle charger so I found a solar powered one on amazon. I'll report back with a review when I get it and have the car stored 2+ weeks. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001D6GYLO/ref=oss_product

That is where you can jump it without the hassel of getting to the battery, also, it is where your owners manual says to jump start it.

Any harm in jump starting it from the battery? I wanted to do connect it to the battery directly so that it can get a quick charge from the booster battery. Jumping it from the rear bay takes awhile for the car the crank and I don't think it provides a quick charge. The trickle chargers are connected to the battery directly instead of the rear bay also.

So I left the car for 2 weeks and the battery went dead again. This product didn't work even though a voltage meter says it was making 19amps. Not sure why it didn't work.

do you have an aftermarket alarm? or aftermarket stereo amps.

if not then you battery is bad.

how old is your battery? if its new then something is draining it.

maybe your dome lights are in the on postions.

other than that the only thing left is your battery is bad,

change every 4-5 years and you will never have a problem.

the battery is 8 months old. Its a Honda brand with 490 amps, maybe just isn't enough for the alarm system. Before that I had a optima yellow top which died after 5 years.

Replaced my 3 year old DieHard Gold today with a DieHard Platinum. For some reasons the battery cable clamps weren't able to clamp securely around the battery posts, particularly on the negative smaller post. With the NSX the original cable clamps can only be tightened so far until the clamp bottoms out - and in that position I wasn't getting any clamping action on the post.

I wound up bending a penny into a curve and sliding it between the clamp and the post. Not very elegant but i wasn't about to cut the factory cables and install new clamps.

you can buy battery post caps made of lead to enlarge the battery post. Auto supply stores sell them. More elegant, and not dis-similar metals to prevent the metals from corrossion.

Warren,

Thanks. Didn't know they made such things. Did a search on "battery post shims" and saw a ton of them. I'll replace the penny I think.

everything is 10 mm including the battery terminals. 4 nuts on bottom, one bolt on top, two battery terminals. i just pulled out an optima red top and there were two small wood blocks on each side of the battery.

Hooking a solar charger to your to your lighter outlet probably won't work as it is only live with the key on. You could connect it right to the battery if it came with clips though.

I bet the solar technology has come along way since this thread started... over 2.5 years ago...

here's how i remove a car battery......remove the bracket bolts......then reach in and affix jumper cable clamps to both terminals......place the other clamps on each nipple......then just walk backwards......easy peezy...

I beg your pardon, but I think you're referring to the JDM manual which specifies nipples. I believe the North American manual indicates the scrotum is to be used.
