How long will NSX lasts?

They are not really connected in any easily accessable way. Unlike many classic cars, there wasn't a build sheet delivered to the buyer which listed the engine # that went into the car. So the average used NSX buyer will have no easy way to know if an engine is original or not.

However, those who have attained perfect NSX Enlightenment (and good connections) can find out which engine # was originally installed in which VIN #, because Honda DOES have a list.

A couple of other points to remember:

1. Engines don't normally die. So the chances you will need to replace it are slim.

2. While there are enthusiasts who try to keep a classic car all original, the NSX is not (yet) in this category of fanaticists. If and when it DOES fall into this category, it will be the low-mileage cars that are valuable. If a car has well over 100K miles, there's no need to worry about keeping the original engine.

In general, how robust are turbocharged NSX's? Under normal driving, with occasional racing, will a stock bottom end NSX boosting 6-7PSI hold up reasonably well?

I have a '91 Honda CRX with 178k miles and a '91 NSX with 117k miles.

With proper oil changes, I don't even worry about the longevity of Honda engines (especially their flagship engine)!
